Top Cole Caufield News

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Two-point effort in OT loss

Caufield produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Sharks.

Both points came in the second period as Montreal built a 3-1 lead, but it slipped away late thanks to some untimely penalties. Caufield has three multi-point performances in the last four games, and through nine contests to begin the season he's collected six goals and eight points. There's plenty of meat left on the bone for the 25-year-old winger as well as he has just one point, an assist, on the power play so far after racking up 11 goals and 29 points with the man advantage in 2025-26.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Scores twice, including OT winner

Caufield scored two goals on five shots, including the game-winner in overtime, in Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Sabres.

Caufield continued his strong start to the season, bringing his goal total to five through eight games. The 25-year-old winger scored his second goal just 54 seconds into overtime, extending his franchise record to 14 regular-season overtime goals. His consistent scoring production and prominent offensive role make him one of Montreal's most valuable fantasy assets, but the lack of consistency has been an issue. While he has five goals in eight games, he's also failed to crack the scoresheet in five of those outings.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Comes up big in shootout win

Caufield scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Sabres.

The star winger helped set up a Lane Hutson tally in the first period before potting his own in the second, and Caufield then opened the shootout by beating Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen high blocker side to kick off a perfect 3-for-3 performance by Montreal's skaters. After erupting for a career-high 51 goals over 81 regular-season games in 2025-26, Caufield has had a feast or famine start to the current campaign, getting held without a point in four of six games but collecting three goals and an assist in the other two.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Finds twine twice Saturday

Caufield scored two goals, posted a plus-three rating and placed three shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Penguins.

Caufield found the back of the net for the first two times this season, with his first tally arriving less than four minutes into Saturday's contest. While the Canadiens faltered in the middle of the game, the 25-year-old winger aided the comeback effort with another goal in the third period. Expectations are high for the young forward, who put the league on notice last year with 51 goals across 81 regular-season games. He's set up for success again in 2026-27 while playing alongside Nick Suzuki and Chris Kreider on the Habs' top line. There's still plenty of hockey remaining in the new season, but Caufield is trending towards holding one of the highest goal-scoring floors in the league.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Two goals including GWG

Caufield notched two goals, including the OT winner, and placed four shots on net in Monday's 3-2 overtime preseason win against Ottawa.

Caufield took over down the stretch, scoring the game-tying goal with just over nine minutes remaining before burying the OT winner just past the left post on a shot from distance. The 25-year-old winger's multi-goal night helped him pick up right where he left off, as he posted 51 tallies in 2025-26, with 12 of those being game-winning scores. Caufield has developed into one of the league's best goalscorers and will likely carry a 50-goal ceiling headed into the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Nets goal in season-ending loss

Caufield scored a power-play goal on three shots and went minus-2 in Friday's 6-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Caufield managed to put up four points (two goals, two assists) in this series. He had a total of six goals, 13 points (10 on the power play), 43 shots on net, 27 hits and a minus-10 rating over 19 playoff outings. Caufield will have high expectations in fantasy next year after a 51-goal, 88-point breakout over 81 regular-season games in 2025-26.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Goal, assist in Game 1 win

Caufield scored a goal, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Hurricanes in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Seth Jarvis scored 33 seconds in for Carolina, but Caufield answered at the one-minute mark to tie the game. The Canadiens controlled the scoring from there, and Caufield added a helper on Juraj Slafkovsky's first tally in the third period. Caufield is up to five goals, six assists, 35 shots on net, 23 hits and a minus-5 rating over 15 playoff outings while filling his usual roles on the top line and first power-play unit.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Buries goal in win

Caufield scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Sabres in Game 5.

Caufield's tally was his first point at even strength in this postseason. He scored at 6:31 of the first period to tie the game at 1-1, and that goal set off an exchange of two tallies for each team over a span of 3:44. The winger has scored in three straight games and is up to four goals, eight points, 27 shots on net and 20 hits through 12 playoff contests.

  • Canadiens' Cole Caufield: Strikes on power play in loss

Caufield scored a power-play goal on five shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Sabres in Game 4.

Caufield has three points, all on the power play, over the last two games. He's starting to get more involved on offense after enduring a five-game slump from Game 5 of the first round to Game 2 of the second round. The 25-year-old winger has earned all of his offense (three goals, four assists) with the man advantage this postseason while adding 24 shots on net, 19 hits and a minus-6 rating over 11 appearances.
