    Analysis

    The Chicago Cubs had their ten game winning streak snapped, and it was in a shutout loss to the Rangers yesterday. Cubs veteran starter Jameson Taillon has seen Chicago win each of his last five starts, making today a good fade spot where I’ll look at a couple of bats in the Rangers lineup. Evan Carter is coming off a big series against the Yankees where he had a hit in each game, including a double and home run. That’s transferred to patience at the plate as he has been walked four times in this series, where the Rangers have cashed in for three runs with Carter in scoring position. Take his total bases/combination line over.

    Analysis

    Logan Gilbert has struggled recently as Davis Martin has the numbers Gilbert should have. Martin has only allowed more than to runs once in his first seven starts this season and Seattle is only hitting .233 against righties on the road thus far. Gilbert is a strikeout dependent pitcher but hasn’t been missing many bats and has allowed at least one, or more, home runs in four of his last five starts. The White Sox are still hitting .273 over their last seven days despite losing four of their last six.

    Analysis

    Probably take it "easy like Sunday morning" -- great song -- today as things are getting wacky and Sundays are themselves anyways. But I do like this one. Big fan of Guardians pitcher Gavin Williams. He was shredded last time out in Kansas City in a surprise but is 2-0 with a 0.89 ERA in three home starts. We have faded the Twins plenty away this year and no reason to stop now: 7-13 on the road. End of a trip for them and I'm glad for these purposes they pulled the extra-innings upset Saturday (rare time I didn't fade them away thankfully). The bullpen is quite taxed now.

    FanDuel. Gavin Williams has emerged as one of the premier strikeout artists in the game. With 60 punch outs in 49.1 innings, he’s cleared this line in 6/8 starts, including all three of his home starts. His called plus swinging strike rate of 32.6% is second to only Jacob Misiorowski amongst pitchers with 30+ innings this season. He’ll face a Twins lineup that’s pretty average for strikeouts overall, but worse on the road (24.8% against righties away from home this season). And against power pitchers: 29% K%.
