Hunter Wohler IND LB
Colts' Hunter Wohler: Almost back to full health
12h agoGeneral manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Wohler is at the end of his rehab for the foot injury he suffered during preseason last year, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Wohler's rookie year was cut short by a season-ending foot injury he sustained during the second week of the preseason, but the hope is that he won't have any limitations when Indianapolis kicks off training camp in July. After the Colts lost starting safety Nick Cross to the Commanders in free agency, they neglected to bring in any big name as a replacement, meaning there could be room for Wohler to earn a spot on the 53-man roster this summer.

Justin Walley IND CB
Colts' Justin Walley: Nearly finished rehabbing
12h agoGeneral manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Walley is at the end of his rehab for the ACL tear he suffered in August of 2025, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Walley was unable to play at all last year after tearing his ACL during training camp, but there's optimism he'll be back to full strength when training camp begins in 2026. With veteran starting corner Kenny Moore seeking a trade away from Indianapolis, the team could be in more need of Walley's services when the new season starts than it thought it would be.

DeForest Buckner IND DT
Colts' DeForest Buckner: Could return during training camp
12h agoThe Colts are targeting a return to football activities during training camp in July for Buckner (neck), JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Following a one-game return in Week 16 versus the 49ers, Buckner underwent surgery to address a neck injury he sustained in Week 9 at Pittsburgh last season. Per general manager Chris Ballard, Buckner is now in a good spot, and there's hope he'll be able to practice when training camp starts up in Indianapolis this summer. If available, he projects to play a major role on the interior of the Colts' defensive line in 2026.

Spencer Shrader IND K
Colts' Spencer Shrader: Kicking again
12h agoGeneral manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Shrader (knee) will kick with the team during training camp in July, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Shrader tore the ACL in his plant leg when he was run into on an extra-point attempt in Week 5 of the 2025 season versus the Raiders, but he appears to be progressing well in his recovery. Per Ballard, he recently made a 54-yard field goal during a workout. He performed well as Indianapolis' starting kicker last year before suffering the season-ending injury, making 13 of his 14 field-goal attempts and all 14 of his extra-point tries over five games, but Blake Grupe, who signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Colts in March, will be tough competition for the club's starting kicker job this summer.

George Pickens DAL WR
Cowboys' George Pickens: Team optimistic he'll sign tag
15h agoThe Cowboys aren't sure if Pickens will participate in the offseason program after they ended negotiations on a long-term contract, but the team is optimistic he'll sign his franchise tag before Week 1, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Pickens likely was hoping for a multi-year deal with a signing bonus larger than his $27.3 million franchise tag. The Cowboys are hoping he'll respond to their direct approach, having informed agent David Mulugheta last week that they don't want to discuss a long-term contract and hope Pickens will play under his tag. For now, Pickens isn't technically under contract and thus can't be fined for missing practices or meetings. If he were to remain unsigned at the start of the regular season, he'd then miss out on $1.52 million each week until he signs and reports to the team. In the meantime, trade rumors are sure to swirl, especially given that this announcement comes on the eve of the 2026 NFL Draft. Pickens would have to sign his franchise tag to facilitate a trade, with any team acquiring him then having until July 15 to hammer out a long-term contract. That said, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones gave the impression that he expects Pickens to eventually sign his tag and play for the team in 2026.

George Pickens DAL WR
Cowboys' George Pickens: Not negotiating long-term deal
18h agoCowboys COO Stephen Jones said Wednesday that Pickens will play out 2026 under the franchise tag, with no negotiations toward a long-term deal, Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com reports.
It's unusual for a team to make this kind of announcement, especially with nearly three months remaining before the July 15 deadline for franchise-tagged players to negotiate contracts. Pickens hasn't signed his tag and thus can't be fined for missing team activities. The tag is worth $27.3 million, which means he'll miss out on around $1.52 million per week if he declines to sign before the start of the regular season. Pickens hasn't made public comments on the situation, but it's probably safe to say he isn't thrilled.

Carter Jensen KC C
Royals' Carter Jensen: Drives sixth homer Wednesday
4h agoJensen went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional RBI, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.
Jensen connected on his sixth homer of the season in the sixth inning, extending his team lead in long balls, with the next closest Royal at three. In his first full major-league season, the 22-year-old has lived up to the hype so far, slashing .275/.354/.565 with six homers, two doubles, 14 RBI and 11 runs through 23 appearances.
-
Vinnie Pasquantino KC 1B
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Tallies two extra-base hits
4h agoPasquantino went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's loss against the Orioles.
Pasquantino reached base three times, highlighted by a solo homer off Chris Bassitt in the first inning. It marked the third long ball of the season for the first baseman, who has struggled out of the gate in 2026, slashing .160/.248/.298 through 25 contests. His power has shown signs of life of late, which is encouraging, though improvement in the batting average department for the career .260 hitter would be a positive.
-
Nick Kurtz ATH 1B
Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Goes deep in loss
5h agoKurtz went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a walk in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Mariners.
Kurtz delivered a clutch solo blast off Andres Munoz in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game, though the Mariners responded with a Josh Naylor walk-off in the bottom half. After a relatively slow start to the year, Kurtz is finding his footing, slashing .375/.559/.792 with three homers, eight RBI and six runs over the past seven games. His season OPS now sits at .849 through 24 contests as the 23-year-old looks to follow up a tremendous rookie campaign with a strong sophomore season.
-
Colson Montgomery CHW SS
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Goes yard again
6h agoMontgomery went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and a second RBI in Wednesday's 11-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
This was Montgomery's fourth straight game with a homer, though he doesn't even have the longest active streak on the team, as Munetaka Murakami has gone deep in five straight contests. While Montgomery is connecting with power lately, he also has eight strikeouts over his last five games. He's batting .212 with an .834 OPS, seven homers, 18 RBI, 10 runs scored, five doubles and a stolen base across 24 contests this season. The power is real, but Montgomery's high strikeout rate (32.7 percent) will leave him prone to slumps when he's not making strong contact.
-
Miguel Vargas CHW 2B
White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Homer, steal in loss
6h agoVargas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 11-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Vargas has hit safely in five of the last six games, going 7-for-25 (.280) with four homers and five RBI in that span. The third baseman is up to five long balls this season, and it looks like he's worked his way out of a slump that plagued him in the first half of April. Overall, he's still hitting just .193, but that comes with a .767 OPS, 12 RBI, 18 runs scored, four steals, three doubles and a triple over 102 plate appearances.
-
Munetaka Murakami CHW 1B
White Sox's Munetaka Murakami: Homer streak at five games
6h agoMurakami went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 11-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.
That's five straight games with a homer for Murakami. He's up to 10 homers this season, trailing only Yordan Alvarez (11) for the big-league lead. Murakami is hitting .256 with a 1.026 OPS, 19 RBI, 19 runs scored and no stolen bases over his first 24 major-league games. He's a three-true-outcomes hitter, as he's added a 21:32 BB:K across 104 plate appearances -- 63 of which have ended with a homer, strikeout or walk.

Desmond Bane ORL SG
Magic's Desmond Bane: Struggles from field in Game 2 loss
5h agoBane ended with 12 points (2-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 6-7 FT), four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 loss to the Pistons in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Bane reached double figures thanks to a strong effort at the charity stripe but struggled from the field as the Magic suffered a double-digit Game 2 loss. After erupting for 34 points (10-16 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 10-11 FT) against the 76ers to start the Play-In Tournament on April 15, the guard has scored fewer than 20 points on under 40 percent shooting in each of the past three games.
-
Paolo Banchero ORL PF
Magic's Paolo Banchero: Scores 18 in Game 2 loss
5h agoBanchero closed with 18 points (7-17 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-8 FT), eight assists, six rebounds, one block and one steal in 34 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 loss to Detroit in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Banchero filled the stat sheet across the board, though it wasn't nearly enough in a double-digit Game 2 loss. With strong career postseason averages of 26.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists on 44.9 percent shooting from the field and 41.1 percent from deep across 14 playoff games, the 23-year-old will need to deliver at a high level if Orlando hopes to pull off the series upset.
-
Jalen Suggs ORL SG
Magic's Jalen Suggs: Paces Orlando in loss
5h agoSuggs chipped in 19 points (7-18 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 loss to the Pistons in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Suggs led his team in scoring on a night when the Magic struggled mightily, shooting just 33 percent from the field in a blowout loss. After recording four stocks in a Game 1 win Sunday, the point guard finished without a steal or block Wednesday, marking just the eighth time that has occurred this year between the regular season and postseason. Suggs playing at the top of his game will be crucial if Orlando wants to pull off the series upset.
-
Isaiah Stewart DET PF
Pistons' Isaiah Stewart: Perfect from field off bench
5h agoStewart closed with 10 points (4-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and two blocks over 16 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 win over the Magic in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Stewart's 16 minutes were eventful, as the big man didn't miss a shot while recording two blocks, though he also committed three turnovers. Turnovers aside, the 24-year-old was far more productive in Game 2 than in Game 1, when he totaled three points (0-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), four rebounds, one block and one steal across 19 minutes. The numbers may fluctuate, but Stewart's role as a physical presence off the bench remains a key part of the Pistons' identity.
-
Jalen Duren DET C
Pistons' Jalen Duren: Nears double-double in win
5h agoDuren racked up 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-5 FT), nine rebounds, four assists and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 victory over the Magic in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Duren reached double figures in scoring but fell one rebound shy of a double-double in the Pistons' blowout win to even the series at one apiece. Coming off a breakout regular season in which he averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 65 percent shooting across 70 games, the 22-year-old has posted more modest numbers through two postseason contests, averaging 9.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 50 percent shooting. While a big effort wasn't needed in Wednesday's win, Duren will need to play closer to his regular-season level for Detroit to make a deep playoff run.
-
Tobias Harris DET PF
Pistons' Tobias Harris: Double-double in victory
5h agoHarris supplied 16 points (7-17 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 11 rebounds, two blocks, two steals and one assist over 33 minutes during Wednesday's 98-83 win over the Magic in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Harris contributed as both a scorer and rebounder, recording his first double-double of the postseason after logging three during the regular season. After shooting 36.8 percent from beyond the arc in 63 regular-season contests, the power forward has struggled from deep through two playoff games, going just 1-for-10 after coming up empty Wednesday.
-
Bobby Brink MIN RW
Wild's Bobby Brink: Chips in with helper
4h agoBrink notched a power-play assist, three hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Brink was out of the lineup for the series opener, but he's since played in two straight games. He doesn't appear to have the full trust of head coach John Hynes, and that could lead to Brink getting scratched once Mats Zuccarello (upper body) and Yakov Trenin (upper body) are healthy again. Brink produced 30 points, 104 shots on net, 80 hits and a minus-7 rating over 68 regular-season outings between Minnesota and Philadelphia.
-
Michael McCarron MIN RW
Wild's Michael McCarron: Scores in Game 3 loss
4h agoMcCarron scored a goal and added three hits in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
McCarron's goal put the Wild ahead 3-2 late in the second period, but they couldn't maintain the lead. This was McCarron's first career playoff goal -- prior to this postseason, he had never recorded a point in nine playoff outings over three different campaigns. The 31-year-old was able to produce 17 points over 79 regular-season contests between the Wild and the Predators, and the Wild traded for him to stabilize their fourth line, so he should see plenty of playing time in that role.
-
Joel Eriksson Ek MIN C
Wild's Joel Eriksson Ek: Tallies in Game 3
4h agoEriksson Ek scored a goal on four shots, added two PIM and logged two hits in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Eriksson Ek has played well to start the postseason, earning three goals, two assists, 13 shots on net and nine hits over three games. The 29-year-old center was limited to 51 points over 70 regular-season outings this year. This is the eighth year he's been in the playoffs -- over the previous seven, he earned 13 points in 32 games.
-
Marcus Johansson MIN LW
Wild's Marcus Johansson: Pots power-play goal
4h agoJohansson scored a power-play goal on two shots and added four hits in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Johansson got the Wild on the board late in the first period. This was his first point in three games to open the postseason, and he's added five shots on net and nine hits in this rivalry matchup. Johansson had one of the better campaigns of his career with 49 points over 75 regular-season outings this year. Prior to this postseason, he had 47 points across 114 career playoff games, so he also brings plenty of experience to a middle-six role.
-
Jesper Wallstedt MIN G
Wild's Jesper Wallstedt: Loses in double-overtime
4h agoWallstedt stopped 32 of 36 shots in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime loss to the Stars in Game 3.
Wallstedt lost for the second game in a row and has allowed eight goals on 85 shots over three playoff contests. It's hard to pin this loss on him -- the difference was in special teams, where the Stars were able to cash in on three power plays, including with the decisive goal by Wyatt Johnston 12:10 into the second overtime. Wallstedt's strong play down the stretch earned him the top goaltending job to begin the postseason, but the Wild can't afford to go down 3-1 in the series. That could lead to a rested Filip Gustavsson getting a look in Game 4 on Saturday, though the Wild have yet to reveal their plans.
-
Wyatt Johnston DAL C
Stars' Wyatt Johnston: Clutches up in double-overtime win
4h agoJohnston scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and logged two hits in Wednesday's 4-3 double-overtime win over the Wild in Game 3.
Johnston's already impressive resume got another bullet point for his work Wednesday. He helped out on Matt Duchene's equalizer in the third period before scoring the game-winner at 12:10 of the second overtime frame to make the Wild pay for Danila Yurov's puck-over-glass penalty. Johnston has torched Minnesota for three goals and two assists over three contests in this series. He's seen postseason action in all four of his NHL campaigns, and prior to this year, he had 18 goals and 32 points over 56 playoff outings. Johnston is already well on his way to surpassing the 10 points he had in 18 playoff contests a year ago.
