Giants' Cam Skattebo: Loses key fumble in Week 5 tie
Rotowire
Skattebo rushed 13 times for 59 yards and caught two of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-27 tie against the Commanders. He also lost a fumble.
After a quiet performance in regulation, Skattebo saved his best and worst moments for overtime. He racked up 40 of his 71 scrimmage yards in OT, but Skattebo fumbled on Washington's 24-yard line as the Giants were in range for a potential game-winning field-goal attempt. That mistake was matched by a clock-management error on the other end, which prevented the Commanders from attempting a game-winning field goal of their own prior to the end of OT. Skattebo will be motivated to atone for his fumble in Week 6 against the Saints' leaky run defense.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Ready for Sunday
Rotowire
Skattebo (shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Washington, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Skattebo was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday due to a shoulder injury, which he touched on Friday when he told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com that he dealt with a "little muscle tightness." With his status now not in question for Week 5, Skattebo will continue to operate as the Giants' lead runner, as he's turned his 76 touches into 302 yards from scrimmage and one TD in four contests this season.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Limited again Thursday
Rotowire
Skattebo (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant at practice Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Skattebo has opened Week 5 prep with consecutive limited sessions. The top backfield option for the Giants will have one more opportunity Friday to upgrade to full participation as he looks to avoid carrying an injury designation into a game for the first time this season.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Dealing with shoulder issue
Rotowire
Skattebo was limited at Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Skattebo has yet to hit 100 rushing yards in a game this season and currently is sitting on 302 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD on 76 touches through four contests. As the Giants kick off prep for a Week 5 road matchup with the Commanders, he's dealing with a health concern and likely will need to practice fully Thursday or Friday in order to avoid a designation ahead of the weekend.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Held in check in Week 4 win
Rotowire
Skattebo carried the ball 18 times for 58 yards and caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 36-24 win over the Cardinals.
The second-year back failed to top 60 rushing yards for a third straight game, but at least in Week 3 he was able to add a 3-40-0 line through the air. Skattebo hasn't gotten into the end zone since the Giants' opener, and through four contests he has 302 scrimmage yards while averaging a disappointing 3.5 yards per carry. He'll try to get going on the ground in a Week 5 road clash with the Commanders.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Reaches triple digits in scrimmage yards
Rotowire
Skattebo carried the ball 20 times for 60 yards and caught three of four targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 12-7 win over the Titans.
With Jameis Winston under center instead of Jaxson Dart (knee), the Giants leaned a little more heavily on their backfield and Skattebo saw a season high in touches while hitting for 100-plus scrimmage yards for the first time in 2026. The second-year back's longest play came on a 30-yard toss in the first quarter, as he made himself available downfield to bail out a scrambling Winston. Through three games, Skattebo is showing no ill effects from the ankle injury that ended his rookie campaign early, and he's collected 177 rushing yards and a TD on 50 carries while adding a 7-59-0 line on eight targets. He figures to see a big workload again in Week 4 at home against the Cardinals.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Stymied in Week 2 loss
Rotowire
Skattebo rushed 12 times for 36 yards and brought in all four targets for 19 yards in the Giants' 28-6 loss to the Rams on Monday night. He also committed a fumble recovered by New York.
Jaxson Dart's first-half exit due to a knee injury naturally put a damper on the Giants offense as a whole, and Skattebo unsurprisingly faced more stringent fronts than he otherwise would have had Dart been in the game. Skattebo did have a solid passing game role as New York trailed throughout, but with Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reporting Dart has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain, it's possible the second-year back may play at least Sunday's Week 3 home matchup against the Titans without his talented teammate.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Opens scoring in Week 1 win
Rotowire
Skattebo rushed 18 times for 81 yards and a touchdown but wasn't targeted in the passing game during Sunday's 28-20 win over the Cowboys.
Skattebo opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run to cap the Giants' first possession of the season. The 2025 fourth-round pick looked spry in his return from a season-ending ankle fracture suffered in Week 8 of his rookie campaign. He led the team in both rushing attempts and rushing yards Sunday while Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy combined for just 30 rushing yards on eight carries, though Singletary got all four targets among Giants running backs and scored a fourth-quarter receiving touchdown. Skattebo should continue to spearhead the Giants' rushing attack in Week 2 against the Rams on Monday Night Football.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Briefly weighed retirement after injury
Rotowire
Skattebo admitted Thursday in an appearance on FanDuel TV's "Up & Adams" that he briefly considered retirement after sustaining a severe right ankle injury in an Oct. 26 loss to the Eagles. "I would say probably a month in [to the rehab process] I was kind of like, 'Do I really want to do this?'" Skattebo said. "But I got to go back and play."
Skattebo told Kay Adams that coming out of college, he had determined that if he ever suffered a major injury, he would step away from football. However, after dislocating his right ankle just eight games into his rookie season, Skattebo determined that he still had too much good football left in him to justify an early retirement. Skattebo underwent surgery a day after suffering the injury and has bounced back well, as the Giants cleared him to take part in drills during June minicamp and made him available with no restrictions to begin training camp. After carrying four times for 19 yards in the Giants' preseason opener, Skattebo didn't play in either of the final two exhibitions, but he was held out merely as precaution. Skattebo is still likely to have his workload scaled back to some degree to begin the 2026 campaign after averaging 19.5 touches per game from Weeks 2 through 7 last season, but he'll head into the Sept. 13 opener versus the Cowboys as the Giants' clear lead option out of the backfield.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Backfield getting crowded
Rotowire
Skattebo gained more competition for snaps and touches Tuesday when the Giants signed Najee Harris, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
New York already seemed to be leaning toward a backfield committee with Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary all working with the offensive starters during the team's preseason opener last Saturday, but Harris potentially adds another running back to the mix once he proves he's fully recovered from an Achilles tear. Skattebo remains at the top of the depth chart, but given his own health concerns after his rookie season was cut short by an ankle injury that required surgery, his workload could be scaled back from 20.8 touches per game he averaged in the five weeks before getting hurt.
Skattebo (ankle) is participating in team drills at Tuesday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
After doing individual work at Monday's minicamp practice, Skattebo graduated to 11-on-11 work Tuesday, suggesting he's at or near 100 percent health coming off ankle surgery. Already seen doing standing back flips this offseason, Skattebo seems ready to roll for the start of training camp next month. He's expected to have a leg up on Tyrone Tracy for the top job in the Giants' backfield under new coach John Harbaugh and OC Matt Nagy.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Taking part in drills at minicamp
Rotowire
Skattebo (ankle) took part in running and agility drills at the first day of mandatory minicamp Monday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Skattebo, who said in mid-May that he expects to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 regular season, is roughly eight months removed from the dislocated right ankle that limited him to eight games as a rookie. While it doesn't yet appear that the 2025 fourth-round pick has been cleared for full team drills, it's encouraging to see him demonstrate lateral quickness in on-field individual drills. The Giants may be targeting training camp in July as the next major step forward in Skattebo's recovery.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Says he'll be ready for Week 1
Rotowire
Skattebo (ankle) said at the Giants Town Hall on Monday night that he is expecting to be ready to play in Week 1 of the upcoming campaign, Kevin Patra of the team's official site reports.
Skattebo's comments Monday echo what Giants GM Joe Schoen relayed in late March, when he shared that the running back was declaring himself "ready to go." Skattebo did add Monday that he's not yet ready to take the field for OTAs, but that doesn't appear to be causing him any concern about his readiness for Week 1. New York hasn't added to its RB room during the offseason outside of signing undrafted rookie Damon Bankston, but it did sign All-Pro fullback Patrick Ricard, so Skattebo could be set up for a big sophomore campaign.
Skattebo (ankle) is present for the start of voluntary workouts Tuesday, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
New Giants coach John Harbaugh said Tuesday that Skattebo (ankle) is ahead of Malik Nabers (knee) in his rehab, but both players are present for the start of voluntary workouts. Per Harbaugh, it is possible Skattebo will resume handling on-field activities this spring. The 2025 fourth-round pick attended Arizona State's Pro Day in late March and was spotted jogging and running without any apparent issues. He suffered a dislocated right ankle in late October and appears to be on track for the start of OTAs.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Looking fully healthy
Rotowire
Skattebo attended Arizona State's Pro Day on Friday and appeared to have no lingering limitations from his right ankle surgery, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Giants GM Joe Schoen also was in attendance for Arizona State's Pro Day and described Skattebo as "jogging around, running, jumping on ex-teammates' backs and stuff like that." Schoen further commented that Skattebo is "declaring himself he's ready to go." Schoen said in January that Skattebo should be ready for the beginning of OTAs, and that appears to remain a genuine possibility.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Out of walking boot
Rotowire
Skattebo (ankle) is on schedule in his recovery from a dislocated right ankle, having shed his walking boot after eight weeks, and he's aiming to be back by training camp if not for spring practices, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Skattebo is now close to 10 weeks removed from his late-October ankle injury, and he's set to start "upping" his speed soon as he works to get back the dorsiflexion (upward movement) in his right foot after shedding his walking boot. The 2025 fourth-round draft pick expects to be ready by training camp in July, which would put him well on track to ramp up to full speed by the start of the 2026 campaign. Once he's healthy, Skattebo could reclaim the top spot in the Giants backfield over Tyrone Tracy.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Dislocated ankle confirmed
Rotowire
Skattebo suffered a dislocated right ankle during Sunday's contest at Philadelphia and was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated further, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
With a diagnosis now known for the gruesome right ankle injury he sustained in the second quarter that required an air cast to stabilize and a cart to get off the field, Skattebo is out indefinitely and likely for the rest of the campaign. The rookie fourth-round pick will yield New York's backfield to Tyrone Tracy moving forward.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: RBs to Start
Rotowire
Tyrone Tracy Jr. returned from a two-game absence with a shoulder injury in Week 6 against the Eagles, but it didn't matter for Skattebo. He had 19 carries for 98 yards and three touchdowns and two catches for 12 yards on two targets, and he has now scored at least 13 PPR points in five games in a row, including the past three outings with at least 21 total touches. The Broncos are No. 4 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but three guys this season have scored at least 17.8 PPR points against Denver, including Saquon Barkley, Omarion Hampton, and Jonathan Taylor. Skattebo should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy running back in all leagues in Week 7.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Breaks out for three TDs in win
Rotowire
Skattebo rushed 19 times for 98 yards and three touchdowns and brought in both targets for 12 yards in the Giants' 34-17 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
Backfield mate Tyrone Tracy returned from a two-game absence due to a shoulder injury, but Skattebo helped make the latter's availability a non-issue with his stellar play. The rookie was responsible for each of the Giants' last three touchdowns, recording a four-yard scoring run late in the first half and then going into the end zone from one yard out in both the third and fourth quarters. Skattebo also set a new single-game career high in rushing yards with Thursday's performance, and he notably gained 44 of his yards on the Giants' final, game-sealing drive that consumed the last 6:50 of the contest. Given his performance Thursday, Skattebo will head into another stiff challenge against the Broncos on Sunday, Oct. 19 as the unquestioned lead back.

Giants' Cam Skattebo: Top DFS Play
Rotowire
Skattebo's breakout happened on Sunday night so it is not reflected in his Week 4 price. Take advantage of that in cash games, no matter how chalky he might be. He's averaging 5.7 yards per touch and could see 20 touches in Week 4 assuming Tyrone Tracy is out. The Chargers have a good defense, but they just gave up 15.3 PPR points to J.K. Dobbins on 12 touches.
