Draft Scouting Report

Pro Comparison: Andrew Nembhard
Summary

Proctor arrived at Duke as a young, celebrated prospect who was the starting point guard from Day 1 as a freshman, despite being only 17 years old. He had a chance to be one-and-done, but opted to return for his sophomore season, only to fail to make the jump anticipated. His best season came as a junior, when he played largely complimentary roles around Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel.

About
  • Australian native who played at the NBA Global Academy prior to attending Duke.
  • Was viewed as a five-star recruit and reclassified up a year to arrive for Jon Scheyer’s first year as coach.
  • All-Freshman ACC but had a disappointing sophomore season. Finished as 3rd team All-ACC as a junior.
Strengths
  • Shooting: Made 41% of his 3-pointers this year including 47% of his shots from deep off the dribble.
  • Midrange game: While it likely won’t be a point of emphasis at the next level, Proctor has always had a very good mid-range pull-up game, making 57% of 2-point jumpers off the dribble this season.
  • Defense: He’s underrated on this end of the floor. He defended the opposing team’s best perimeter scorer most nights and is especially effective chasing opposing shooters.
Weaknesses
  • Lack of strength: While he’s worked hard to add muscle to his frame over the last three years, he still has a naturally leaner build and lacks some of the sheer force you would ideally want in an NBA combo-guard.
  • Secondary creator: He arrived at Duke viewed as a big point guard, but played his best basketball when he was moved largely off the ball as a junior.
  • Not dynamic: Proctor is a very solid two-way complimenting piece, but he lacks that one glaring weapon to hang his hat on, unless the shooting keeps ascending.
Combine Data
  • 20-yard shuttle run: 3.00 seconds
  • Wingspan: 6 feet, 7.25 inches
  • Standing vertical leap: 30.5 inches
  • Standing reach: 8 feet, 4.5 inches
  • Lane agility: 10.75 seconds
  • Three quarter sprint: 3.19 seconds
  • Max vertical leap: 36.5 inches
