WATCH: A college basketball player lost her shoe, and it went downhill from there
Guard Lexie Vaught of Division II Drury had a rough sequence in her squad's blowout win
On the list of embarrassing things than can happen during a basketball game, losing your shoe is definitely near the top.
Unfortunately for Lexie Vaught, losing her shoe was the least embarrassing thing that happened to her during a rough sequence on Saturday.
Vaught, a freshman guard at Division II Drury University, got turned around trying to guard her opponent during Saturday's game against Rockhurst and lost a shoe in the process. Hey, it happens. Players lose shoes all the time during basketball games, and most just keep playing -- some even use the shoe as a tool to block shots.
The aftermath for Vaught was just as comical, but unfortunately for different reasons.

Poor Vaught was slipping and sliding all over the court, but you have to give her serious credit for not quitting. Most of us would have called it a day after slipping the first time and run off the court, but not Lexie -- she was determined to make a play and help out her team.
The hilarious moment was just a blip on the radar for Drury, which went on to win the game handily, 94-43. The team is 17-2 on the season, 9-0 in conference and has won nine straight. Vaught has played a prominent role as a freshman, averaging a little more than 19 minutes off the bench.
