The Miami Beach Bowl is no more.

The game, which was owned by the American Athletic Conference and began in 2014, has been sold to ESPN. ESPN, which owns nearly all of the bowl games, is moving the game to Frisco, Texas starting in the 2017 season.

The game will continue to feature a school from the AAC, as well as a school from the Sun Belt in 2017 and 2019, and a MAC team in 2018.

The game will be played at Toyota Stadium, home of the MLS franchise FC Dallas. It's also the host of the FCS title game.

The Frisco Bowl will now be the fourth bowl played in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, joining the Cotton Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, and the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

Which is all fine and good for the Frisco Bowl, but I'm a bit sad to see the Miami Beach Bowl leave us. It lived a short life, but a glorious and memorable one.

What wasn't there to love about a bowl game being played inside a baseball stadium on a Monday afternoon? Also, do you remember the fight between Memphis and BYU following the very first Miami Beach Bowl? What a game that was.

I mean, what more could you ask for after a double-overtime game than a fight? That's what postseason football is all about, folks. Those two teams cared about winning the Miami Beach Bowl because it was the Miami Beach Bowl.

And now it's gone. Taken from us far too soon.

Farewell, Miami Beach Bowl. We'll never forget you.
