Canelo vs. Khan results: Alvarez lands devastating knockout punch
Canelo Alvarez looked shaky early on with Amir Khan controlling the action at the start of the fight, but Alvarez landed one of the best right hooks of the year to score the knockout.
Canelo Alvarez gave the world exactly what they wanted on Saturday night with a thunderous knockout of Amir Khan in the sixth round to retain his WBC middleweight title.
Khan controlled the action early with his brilliant hand speed and seemed to frustrate Canelo with crisp combinations to the head. However, as the fight wore on into the middle rounds, Alvarez was able to begin cutting the ring off and slow Khan down with big right hands to the body.
In the sixth round, Canelo was able to land the massive power shot everyone was waiting for as he feint the left hand to the body and threw an overhand right that caught Khan square on the chin, knocking him out cold.

Khan stayed on the canvas for a considerable amount of time, laying stiff as referee Kenny Bayless called a stoppage to the action.
Khan was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons, but seemed in good spirits while in the ambulance.

The fight confirmed what many expected, which was that Alvarez would figure out Khan's speed and eventually locate his chin with his thunderous right hand.
After the fight, Canelo invited Gennady Golovkin into the ring and told him in Mexico "we don't [expletive] around, we don't fear anyone," and it seems the highly anticipated mandatory bout could actually happen later this year.
Golovkin took to Twitter right after saying he's ready for the bout.
