The Kentucky Derby is billed as The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports, but it's certainly one of the hardest races in the world to win if you're a bettor.

Before you put in your slip for Saturday's Run for the Roses, you'll want to know how horse racing guru Jody Demling thinks it'll play out. He has been a fixture at Churchill Downs for years and he's on a near decade-long hot streak.

He has nailed eight straight Oaks-Derby doubles, meaning he has held a winning ticket for the bet where you pick Friday's Kentucky Oaks and Saturday's Kentucky Derby winner eight straight years. That's right, eight straight.

Jody thinks this year's race will get off to a fairly quick pace with at least 10 of the 20 horses either on the lead or near the lead in a stalker position when the gates open.

While Classic Empire might be the best of the bunch (and comes in two-for-two at Churchill Downs), a recent foot abscess and a poor record for two-year-old champs at the Derby makes it unlikely that he'll emerge from the pack, even as one of the betting favorites.

In the end, Demling has a few horses he likes in the top three, but also advises to spread your money around.

The superfecta has been the best way to make money recently and his favorite bet -- the Oaks-Derby Double -- may again be the best of the weekend.

Then what's Jody's advice? Stay away from Classic Empire and have some fun with a few different picks, especially if you can get in Friday for the Oaks-Derby double.  An exotic wager like a super box can make for a great Saturday -- legendary trainer D. Wayne Lukas told Jody he's picking a seven horse super box -- so don't be scared to give it a run.

So which horses do you take? Visit SportsLine to get Demling's picks to win, place and show as well as his favorite superfecta and, of course, Oaks-Derby double.
