Rockies recall OF Drew Stubbs from Triple-A on Thursday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

The Rockies have recalled outfielder Drew Stubbs from Triple-A on Thursday, and he will be available off the bench for the game against the Diamondbacks.

After struggling for the first 24 games of the season with a .118 batting average and 30 strikeouts, Stubbs was sent down to Alburquerque on May 20. In 38 games at Triple-A, Stubbs was hitting .263 with four doubles, three triples and two home runs.

"I think being sent down was good for me," Stubbs said, per The Denver Post. "I got back to being myself again. Stuff had compounded on me to where I wasn't playing effective baseball. I felt like that wiped the slate clean. I'm ready to go again."

To clear room on the roster, infielder/outfielder Rafael Ynoa was optioned to Triple-A.

Rockies option OF Drew Stubbs to Triple-A; recall OF Barnes
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

The Rockies have optioned outfielder Drew Stubbs to Triple-A Albuquerque, the team announced on Wednesday. Stubbs has struggled this season to the tune of a .118 batting average (6 for 51). The Rockies are hoping he can find his swing in Triple-A and return to the player that hit .289 with 15 home runs a year ago.

In a corresponding move, the team called up fellow outfielder Brandon Barnes from Triple-A. Barnes wasn't fairing much better in Albuquerque, as he owns a .205 average and 34 strikeouts in 132 at-bats.

"My numbers weren't what I wanted them to be," Barnes said, per the Denver Post. "But I feel good, I'm in a good place. I always feel good."

Barnes is on the bench for Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

Rockies' Walt Weiss wants Drew Stubbs to work through struggles
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Rockies manager Walt Weiss told reporters he wants outfielder Drew Stubbs to work through his alarming strikeout rate in order to get back on track at the plate, per the Denver Post.

Stubbs is hitting .120 on the year with only two homers and five RBI. In 50 at-bats, Stubbs has been fanned 30 times and walked just three times.

"I wish that's all it took -- to say the magic words," Weiss said of Stubbs. "You have to work through it. It's about finding that feeling again. That's what he's doing. He's struggling. It's tough as an athlete to struggle at this level, especially when there's so much at stake at every night."

Rockies' Troy Tulowitzki, Corey Dickerson out of lineup Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Corey Dickerson are not in the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers.

Tulowitzki left Friday's game with a quad injury and didn't play Saturday. Dickerson came out of Saturday's game due to a flare-up with his plantar fasciitis. With the pair sidelined, center fielder Drew Stubbs and shortstop Daniel Descalso will bat seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Rockies are heavy underdogs (+180) in Los Angeles Sunday, per VegasInsider.com.
