Rays' Danny Farquhar: Bounces back with strong outing Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Farquhar earned his third hold of the season in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Tigers, pitching a scoreless two-thirds of an inning and recording two strikeouts.

The veteran righty had his first truly poor outing of the season Sunday versus the Red Sox, giving up two earned runs on two hits over 1.1 innings. Tuesday's effort thus represented a nice bounce-back effort, particularly because Farquhar escaped unscathed after coming on with runners on first and second and no one out. He figures to continue receiving plenty of work as one of manager Kevin Cash's more trusted options out of the bullpen.

Rays' Danny Farquhar: Works around control issues Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Farquhar fired a scoreless inning in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees, issuing two walks and uncorking a wild pitch but also recording two strikeouts.

The veteran reliever has now turned in scoreless appearances in four of his first five trips to the mound this season. He made it interesting Thursday, however, walking Starlin Castro to open the eighth and advancing him to second on an errant pitch. Farquhar then bore down to get Chase Headley and Greg Bird swinging before picking Aaron Judge off first after intentionally walking him. Farquhar has been a trusted late-inning option for manager Kevin Cash thus far, and with Brad Boxberger (back) now on the 60-day disabled list he should remain a viable setup option behind closer Alex Colome for the time being.

Rays' Danny Farquhar: Solid relief outing Thursday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Farquhar fired a scoreless inning in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering two hits.

The veteran reliever put together his second consecutive scoreless outing to open the season, an encouraging development for a Rays bullpen that came into the season on somewhat uncertain ground due to Brad Boxberger's (back) injury issues and the presence of newcomers Jumbo Diaz and Tommy Hunter. Farquhar is a key holdover from last season and part of a relief corps that has generated an 0.88 ERA and allowed just one run across 10.2 innings over the season's first four games.

Rays' Danny Farquhar: Dominant in Opening Day relief outing
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Farquhar fired a scoreless inning in Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Yankees, hitting Jacoby Ellsbury but also recording two strikeouts.

The veteran reliever came on in the eighth following a strong seven-inning stint by starter Chris Archer and set down Greg Bird and Matt Holliday on swinging strikeouts before plunking Ellsbury. However, Farquhar bounced back and promptly popped up Starlin Castro to end the inning. It was an encouraging start for the 30-year-old, who recorded 13 strikeouts over 11 spring frames but also generated a 4.91 ERA over his nine appearances.

Rays' Danny Farquhar: Avoids arbitration with Rays
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Farquhar and the Rays avoided arbitration with a $900,00 deal, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Farquhar posted a strong season in his first year with the Rays, registering a 3.06 ERA in 35.1 innings while striking out 46. He struggled with the long ball, but that could be a single season aberration. This was his first round of arbitration.
