Moses Malone Jr. suing James Harden for allegedly orchestrating a plan to rob him
According to the lawsuit, Harden was upset after Malone Jr. criticized him on Facebook
The nature of this job means I spend a lot of time online, and as such I've seen a lot of strange stories over the years. This one, however, is right up there at the top of the list in the sports division.
According to a report from Fox 26 in Houston, James Harden is the subject of a lawsuit that was filed by Moses Malone Jr., in which the younger Malone is alleging that Harden paid people $20,000 to rob him. But wait, you might be saying, why would Harden have a beef with Moses Malone Jr.? Well, as it turns out, Malone Jr. criticized him on Facebook. Via Carey's Instagram:
Fox 26 news has learned Houston Rockets' star player James Harden has been sued and accused of masterminding a plan to assault and rob the son of an NBA legend...
That suit was filed by Moses Malone Jr. It alleges Harden paid a group of people $20,000 in cash to attack and rob Malone at V-Live strip club last year. The lawsuit says Harden was angry because Malone wrote a Facebook post criticizing the star player for charging children for his basketball camp. Several people connected to the assault have already been charged criminally.
Okay then.
Harden's attorney, however, does not seem too worried about the claims.
I am in Boston for depositions so I haven't seen the petition but I have previously discussed Mose's allegations with James and others, and I am totally comfortable that the allegations are untrue. Unfortunately, I am afraid this is just another example of people shopping for a deep pocket when they find that the people actually responsible have no money.
I don't really know what to say other than this was never a scenario I expected to read about. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens here.
