WATCH: LeBron James passes Shaq in career playoff scoring
Cavaliers superstar LeBron James keeps making history
LeBron James cut to the basket, received a pass from Kevin Love and glided to the rim for a layup on Thursday in Game 2 against the Toronto Raptors. It was an ordinary play, but, since it gave James 5,251 career playoff points, it was another extraordinary accomplishment for the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar. James is now fourth all-time in playoff scoring, ahead of Shaquille O'Neal's 5,250 points.
Watch:
Part of this is a result of James simply advancing in the playoffs over and over. Entering Thursday, James averaged 28 points in 187 playoff games. He has missed the postseason only twice, in the first two years of his career. He has made the NBA Finals six times and won two championships. He will soon be third in NBA history in playoff assists, too.
Three players are in front of James on this list. Michael Jordan scored 5,987 playoff points, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored 5,762 points and Kobe Bryant scored 5,640 points. Abdul-Jabbar happened to be in attendance, by the way.
