Every NFL play requires 11 players working in concert in order for the play to be effective.

When it's a running play, the quarterback has to take the snap and execute the handoff. The running back has to take the handoff, read his blocks, and find the hole. The offensive linemen have to block the men in front of them. And the wide receivers have to block the men on the perimeter. All the pieces matter.

It's also important to execute your job on a particular play within the rules. That means you don't go after the knees of an opposing player when you're blocking on the perimeter, Harry Douglas.

This play was a run directly up the middle, by the way, and as you can see from all the linemen standing around in the background at the end of the GIF, the play was basically over by the time Douglas made the hit on Chris Harris.

Not surprisingly, his actions kicked off a bit of a fracas between the two teams, as Aqib Talib almost immediately went after Douglas at the conclusion of the play.

Because refs sometimes only see the retaliation and not always what incited the incident, the only penalty handed out on this play was a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct to Talib. Something tells me Douglas will be getting a call from the league office next week, though, and that his wallet will be a bit lighter by the time the conversation is over.
