Interception leader Ryan Fitzpatrick complains no one believes in him anymore
For whatever reason, Fitzpatrick is upset no one believes in him
After a disastrous showing on Monday night, Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched for Geno Smith. Todd Bowles saw enough on film to warrant making the move. Fitzpatrick would return to the field against the Ravens when Smith got hurt, and he thinks he should stay there.
He also thinks everyone in the Jets organization quit believing in him and whined about it after the game.
Fitzpatrick: "When owner stops believing in you & GM stops believing in u & coaches stop believing in u, sometimes all you have is yourself"

Ryan Fitzpatrick reiterates that, as a human being, it's tough to see the ppl who don't believe in you every day in the building #jets

Fitzpatrick also said he thinks he "should start every week." And as we'll always say when a player wants to be the starter, that's a good thing. You can't end up playing in the NFL if you believe you shouldn't be starting.
But Fitzpatrick getting upset about being ditched by the people at the top of the organization is a little bit of a sad-sack move.
He has 11 interceptions this season, most in the league. He's single-handedly cost the Jets multiple games because of his inability to operate a functional offense.
Of course, the front office and coaching staff that spent the offseason answering questions about Fitzpatrick's status and then playing chicken with him on a new deal is miffed.
The bottom line is it's a results-driven business, and Fitzpatrick hasn't had great results. He can't expect everyone to rub his back and offer him tissues when the team is free-falling into irrelevance during a season that was very much supposed to be a win-now situation.
