After Cam Newton scored his first and only touchdown against the Falcons on Sunday, the Panthers quarterback unveiled a new end-zone celebration. Instead of dabbing, Newton did something else: He pretended the football was a baby and then he rocked the imaginary baby to sleep.

As it turns out, that might just have been Newton's way of practicing for the real thing.

The Panthers quarterback took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce the birth of his first child.

The mother of the baby is Newton's longtime girlfriend Kia Proctor, who you can see below (via Instagram).

The baby boy was born on Christmas Eve; however, Newton waited until this week to announce the baby's birth because he didn't want it to "create a distraction" for his team.

Maybe Newton should've told his teammates about the baby before last Sunday's game, because the Panthers played like they could've used a distraction against the Falcons. Carolina's 20-13 loss to Atlanta ended the Panthers' bid for an undefeated season.
