LOOK: Ryan Fitzpatrick finally shaves his afro wig and his coach approves, sort of
The Jets quarterback shaved his head but the lumberjack beard remains fully intact
It took the entire offseason to get on the same page, but Ryan Fitzpatrick has signed a one-year deal with the Jets, and the hope is that he can recreate some of the magic that led to last season's 10-6 record (and maybe this time, a playoff spot). First, however, the truly important stuff: Addressing that wild-man afro wig-beard combo.
"I don't know what's going on with the hair and beard. I thought we got past that last year," wide receiver Brandon Marshall said last week, via Newsday.com. And Eric Decker, who promised to tidy things up if Fitzpatrick didn't, joked: "Full beard, mini 'fro. It looked like he just got off the golf course."
So a day after Fitzpatrick showed up to an interview looking like Bigfoot ...

Coach Todd Bowles' reaction to Fitz's new look?
"I don't have a comment on that,'' he said. "It's hot, so to not have a lot of hair is good. I don't know."
Meanwhile, Fitzpatrick has as good a reason as any for his appearance: "I'm not really trying to impress anybody," he told ESPN's Suzy Kolber. "I've already got my wife locked down, hopefully."
