In late December, the Huffington Post reported on an Al Jazeera investigative report that linked Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning to human growth hormone (HGH). The report alleged that Manning had shipments of HGH sent to his wife, Ashley Manning, so as to not be connected to the shipments himself. Manning vehemently denied the allegations, also later stating that he will "probably" sue over the report. After the NFL announced in January that it would investigate the allegations, Manning said he welcomes an investigation into the "garbage" report.

At Super Bowl 50 media day, Manning was asked again about the allegations and again said there was simply no merit to them. "A lot of high-profile athletes have denied these types of allegations. Why should we believe you?"

"I can't speak for anybody else," Manning said, per CSN New England. "I've addressed this before, that's why I welcome this NFL investigation and that's because I know the rules of the NFL and I respect the rules and they're important to me. So what this report alleges that I did is simply not true. It's fabricated. It's junk. It's garbage. I can give you a long list of other words for it. And I can guarantee you this investigation will find a big, fat nothing. That's how I feel about it."

With no firm proof linking Manning to HGH, it's possible the investigation will turn up exactly that. It's not like the NFL has shied away from investigating allegations that seemingly lack proof of wrongdoing before, though.
