Report: Bengals lose 2016 first-rounder William Jackson to a torn pectoral
Players with torn pectorals typically miss the entire season
The Cincinnati Bengals have suffered a big blow early in training camp with 2016 first-round pick William Jackson going down with a torn pectoral, according to a report from NFL.com's Mike Garafolo.

Torn pectorals typically knock players out for the year. Giants tackle Will Beatty sat out the entire season with the same injury last season, while Browns defensive end Desmond Bryant has already been declared out for the 2016 season with his torn pectoral as well. Players like Ryan Mallett, Jonathan Hankins, and others have been knocked out for the rest of the year after tearing their pectorals mid-season.
Luckily for the Bengals, they are the kind of team that can withstand a serious injury to a top pick. This isn't like last year's Jaguars losing No. 3 overall pick Dante Fowler and not having much else on the defensive line. The Bengals still have Adam Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, and 2014 first-rounder Darqueze Dennard rounding out their cornerback group.
Jackson was expected to play regular snaps and push for a starting role, but it's not as though he would have been their top corner right away. It's obviously a blow that he will be completely unavailable and will miss out on valuable reps and development time, but the Bengals should be able to weather his absence.
