Report: Dez Bryant's knee injury could sideline him for up to 3 weeks
Can the Cowboys win without Romo and Bryant in the lineup? That will likely be answered Sunday
Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant suffered a "slight hairline fracture in one of the bones in his knee," and not only is his status in doubt for this Sunday's game against the 49ers, he could miss up to three weeks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter later tweeted that Bryant is expected to miss Sunday's game in San Francisco.
No great surprise, but Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is not expected to play Sunday vs 49ers, per source. https://t.co/KvwIcffiy6

Bryant missed several weeks last season with a broken bone in his foot and the offense, which was also without Tony Romo for 14 games, sputtered before stalling completely.
And with Romo sidelined again with a back injury, this would mean that the Cowboys would have to rely on Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, Brice Butler and Jason Witten to be the downfield playmakers in an offense that has been very good with rookie quarterback Dak Prescott under center.
Since 2014, the Cowboys are 0-6 when both Dez Bryant and Tony Romo are inactive, scoring 11.4 fewer points than when both are playing.

Bryant, who tweaked his knee during the first series of Sunday night's game against the Bears, did not practice Wednesday, though coach Jason Garrett told reporters that Bryant worked out and "we're hopeful that he'll be able to play."
"What I've been told that it is a day-to-day, week-to-week injury," the coach continued. "We've had players with this kind of injury who missed no time in the past, and other players who have missed up to a week, two [weeks] or more than that. We'll take it day by day, and we'll see how he does when he comes in [Thursday], see how he feels, and we'll make our evaluations there as we go forward."
Meanwhile, Garrett confirmed that Bryant missed an MRI on Tuesday and team meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the team fined Bryant for the missed MRI and meetings. The players were off on Monday, and when they reported for meetings Tuesday morning, Bryant wasn't among them. He did show up later Tuesday, but it was too late in the day for the MRI.
Whatever the immediate future holds, a source told the Morning News that both the Cowboys and Bryant have moved on from the fine.
