The band Smash Mouth has strong feelings about Marshawn Lynch
Is Marshawn Lynch a future Hall of Fame member? Not if Smash Mouth is voting.
The case for Marshawn Lynch as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame will be an interesting one. He's just 36th all-time in rushing yards (barely above Matt Forte) and 24th all-time in rushing touchdowns.
But in the playoffs Lynch is eighth all-time in rushing yards (937) and seventh all-time in rushing touchdowns (nine). The only person above him in either playoff category not in Canton is Terrell Davis. He was the centerpiece on offense for a borderline dynastic Seahawks team.
Some people would tell you he should be in and other people, like the guys in the band Smash Mouth, will tell you no bleeping way.
@NFL @ProFootballHOF Hell F-in Nooooooo!!!!!

Weird Smash Mouth -- goofy '90s alt-soft-ska band made famous by songs Walkin' on the Sun and All-Star -- would be so impassioned about whether Lynch is a Hall of Famer.
But they are! And it turns out they got a lot of responses from Seahawks fans, which for a band comprised of 49ers fans could be a bit stomach-churning.
Smash Mouth took it in stride, though, and kept firing back at any retorts.
@danluceroshow Lynch will be forgotten in 2 years. His impact was minimal at best, here's an idea BLOCK someone dude! Stop taking off plays.

@Greengrouch88 @NFL @ProFootballHOF nope and our career is 20 years his is about 20seconds. Took plays off and didn't block a soul.

It also appears Smash Mouth is very passionate about Beast Mode taking plays off.
@danluceroshow Yup he's had some amazing runs but a HOFamer doesn't take plays off and stand there when he doesn't have the ball.

The band got saucy with Seahawks fans too, pointing out how easy it is to lose a Super Bowl. Ouch.
@NoahMG Yes because winning Super Bowls is so easy. You can be on the 2 yard line and,......SNAP!

@509Kingofkings @Gaychel22 What happened your last SB? Biggest CHOKE in the history of the NFL.

And Smash Mouth brought stats to the conversation. Roger Craig would like a word about this debate.
@StevenVelezLuce @Greengrouch88 @NFL @ProFootballHOF Reg Season games: CRAIG-90TD's/13,100 Total Yards/ LYNCH: 83TD's/11,091 Total Yards

Craig, of course, is not a Hall of Famer. And although he might have more total yards, he doesn't have the rushing stats that Lynch has (he's behind Beast Mode in total rushing yards and rushing scores). If you bring receptions and receiving yards into the equation, Craig is going to win. He led the league with 92 catches in 1985 and averaged more than 50 catches a year for his career.
Personally I would put Lynch in the Hall, not because of the statistics per se, but because of the impact he had on the Seahawks and because he defined a particular running style and was an animal in the playoffs. But I'm not a Smash Mouth fan either, so what do I know?
