These poor Vikings fans thought Blair Walsh made the game-winning FG
Some poor saps at TCF Bank Stadium were cheering, because from their vantage point it looked like Blair Walsh made the 27-yard field goal. Turns out, he missed badly.
It's hard to imagine many things worse than sitting in TCF Bank Stadium in sub-zero temperatures and having to watch Blair Walsh honk a 27-yard game-winning field goal with seconds to go in Sunday's wild-card game against the Seahawks.
Except doing all that and thinking that Walsh actually made the kick and the Viking had won. This is the saddest thing you'll see today.
"YEAAAHHHH! WE WON, BROTHER!"
Then, a beat later, incredulously, "HE MISSED IT!"
And then denial.
"NO, NO, NOOOO WAY. THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN. HOW CAN YOU MISS THAT?!"
Followed by resignation.
"No flags on the field. This game is done."
Yep and yep.
It's fair to wonder how exactly an NFL kicker pull-hooks a chip shot, a question that will likely haunt Walsh for weeks, months and possibly years. But missed it he did and the Vikings' season is over. Though, if you're a glass-half-full type, the season lasted a few seconds longer for those poor saps with the terrible vantage point.
Before signing off, the Vikings fan who made this video turned the camera around for one last thought.
"Way to go, Blair Walsh," he says, more stunned than dejected. "Way to ruin little kids' dreams. Way to go."
