Bill Belichick has never really had a speedy quarterback, and now that he does, he's decided to empty his playbook and use every quarterback run he has.

During the first quarter of the Patriots game against Houston on Thursday, rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett showed off his speed with 40 yards on just two carries. That total includes a 27-yard touchdown run you see below where Brissett got everyone to bite on a bootleg.

There was no one EVEN NEAR HIM until he got to the 5-yard line. The long scoring run gave the Patriots an early 10-0 lead.

You can bet that when Tom Brady gets back in Week 5, the Patriots will probably get rid of that play from the playbook.

Anyway, if Brissett was nervous about making his career start on Thursday, he didn't show it. Not only did the rookie run for 40 yards in the first quarter, but he also completed 4 of 6 passes for 43 yards.

Brissett's touchdown run was the longest run by a Patriots quarterback since 1978 and the longest touchdown run by a New England quarterback since 1976.

Although it's still early, it's probably OK to just go ahead and label Belichick a genius -- because that's what Michael Irvin is doing. The Hall of Fame wide receiver said that if the Patriots beat the Texans on Thursday with their third-string quarterback, then the NFL should change the name of the Lombardi Trophy to the Belichick trophy.
