  • Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec: Snaps eight-game goal drought

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(1/10/17) Plekanec snapped an eight-game goal drought with Montreal's lone tally during Monday's loss to Washington.

It was just the fourth goal of the season for Plekanec, as even with multiple injuries up the middle for the Canadiens, he's failed to make much of a fantasy impact this year. Entering Monday's game, the 34-year-old pivot had started 57.8 percent of his shifts in the defensive zone, which certainly doesn't help, but he's also seen a significant decline in his shooting percentage the past two seasons (just 6.8 percent). There aren't many fantasy settings where you'll want to rely on Plekanec.

Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec: Game-winner on power play

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/21/16) Plekanec scored a power-play goal in Montreal's 5-1 win over Anaheim on Tuesday.

Two rare events conspired to register the Habs' game-winning goal: Plekanec scored for just the third time of the season and it came on the power play, Montreal's second power-play goal in the last 23 opportunities. A one-time reliable 20-goal scorer, Plekanec has just 17 over his past 114 games. After a brief flirtation on the Montreal's top line -- when he had four assists in a win over Colorado -- Plekanec is now centering the third line between Brian Flynn and Artturi Lehkonen.

Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec: Records four assists in rout versus Avalanche

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/11/16) Plekanec had four assists in a 10-1 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

He assisted three of Max Pacioretty's four goals on the night. Plekanec also had a helper on Alexander Radulov's goal. Montreal scored six times in the first period, including five goals in under six minutes. Plekanec has a goal and six points in the last three games, so he's beginning to heat up. He only had one goal and seven points in the first 23 games this season.

Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec: Expected to move to top line

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/8/16) Plekanec is expected to join Montreal's top line with both Alex Galchenyuk (knee) and David Desharnais (knee) expected to miss the next 6-to-8 weeks, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.

With nine points (two goals, seven assists) through the first 26 gmaes, Plekanec is hardly having a year worthy of being a first-line center, but that's where the Habs are at this point. He scored his second goal of the season Tuesday night, ending a 13-game drought, so there's some momentum heading into Thursday's contest against the Devils.

Canadiens' Tomas Plekanec: Earns just second multi-point outing of campaign

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/6/16) Plekanec recorded a goal, an assist and four hits during Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to St. Louis.

To say the least, Plekanec has been very disappointing this season. Through 26 games, the veteran has just two goals and seven assists, miles off his past two years -- back-to-back 50-plus point campaigns. While Tuesday's outing could be a turnaround for the 34-year-old, the only other multi-point outing this season notched by the center was followed up by a seven-game drought. It may be wise to wait and see how Plekanec performs moving forward before trusting him again.
