Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas experienced the best day of his career on Saturday. Just days later, one of his worst days as a pro soccer player arrived.

After earning the Champions League title with Real Madrid in Milan at the weekend, it was revealed on Tuesday that the Costa Rica international would miss the Copa America Centenario due to injury. According to Real Madrid, he injured his Achilles, a problem he had been dealing with for some time. You may remember, Navas missed out on the Gold Cup last summer with the injury.

Costa Rica's soccer federation announced that Navas would miss the cup and now have his replacement in Danny Carvajal.

Carvajal is a 27-year-old who plays for Costa Rican club Saprissa, but it is likely that veteran Patrick Pemberton will start.

It's a tough blow for Costa Rica as they lose their top player and the best goalkeeper in the cup by far. In Group A with Colombia, USA and Paraguay, this likely ends any chance Costa Rica realistically had of advancing to the next round.
