Duke's Amile Jefferson may have injured same foot that ailed him last year
Duke's roster, which was just getting back to full strength, could take a big hit if Jefferson is out
The Duke Blue Devils escaped on Saturday afternoon with a 93-82 win over Boston College. But they didn't come out completely unscathed. Senior center Amile Jefferson, who is one of only a handful of Blue Devils who have played in every game this season, suffered an apparent foot injury in the first half. He was having a phenomenal start to the game with 11 points in the first 13 minutes.
Catching a pass from Harry Giles in the low block, Jefferson went to his right side across the lane with a shot attempt, but he came down awkwardly on his right foot. He limped down the floor on defense before exiting the game and did not return.
"He hurt his foot. We don't know the extent of it yet," associate head coach Jeff Capel said after the game. "We'll hopefully find out a little bit later."
Jefferson missed most of last season with a right foot injury. It is believed that Jefferson injured the same foot that he fractured last season, although Duke has not confirmed that.
The extent of his injury is also unknown. According to Capel, he is expected to undergo tests in the coming days.
