Brand signed a contract with the 76ers on Monday, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reports.
After announcing his retirement in August, Brand is set to sign on with one of his former team. The 36-year-old played for the 76ers from 2008-12, but looked to be on his last legs during a 36 game-stint with the Hawks in 2014-15, averaging only 2.7 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. Rather than any on-court contributions, the 76ers are likely bringing Brand to provide mentorship for Philly's young big men, Jahlil Okafor, Nerlens Noel, and Joel Embiid (foot). Philadelphia released rookie Christian Wood to make room on the roster for Brand.
