Fantasy Basketball Start and Sit: Week 2 Top 150 rankings
The Kings have five games on the schedule in Week 2. The Hornets and Heat have two. This isn't complicated, Chris Towers says.
Editor's Note: Every week, we will release the Top 150 players based on their projections for that scoring period. Use this list to compare players and help make those really tough decisions.
Sometimes, you just have to let the schedule do the work for you. You'll have tough decisions to make in Fantasy this season, but if you have any Kings on your schedule in Week 2 (Oct. 31-Nov. 6), things couldn't be easier: You play your Kings this week, with five games on the schedule.
That obviously goes for DeMarcus Cousins, the top projected scorer in Fantasy this week. However, you also need to get your fringey guys in there too. Rudy Gay is an obvious must-start, but so is Ty Lawson (averaging 8.0 points, 7.0 assists per game in the first three games while starting for Darren Collison) and Aaron Afflalo as well.
Of course, the Kings aren't exactly the deepest team in the NBA right now, so they aren't the best team to take advantage of the schedule here. However, they still play three more games than Charlotte and Miami, and two more games than 15 other teams in the NBA. That puts guys like Matt Barnes, Willie Cauley-Stein, and even Ben McLemore in play this week.
As for Charlotte and Miami, they're on the other end of the spectrum. Both actually have pretty appetizing matchups for the week, but it's hard to justify getting someone in your lineup when they play just twice. From these teams, you are only really considering Hassan Whiteside, Kemba Walker and Nicolas Batum as real starting options; Marvin Williams and Goran Dragic are pure desperation starts.
Here are a few other things to keep in mind with the Week 2 schedule:
- The Spurs play the Jazz twice, including once as part of a back-to-back set. Remember Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Kyle Anderson, and Jonathon Simmons? Yeah, they aren't worth starting this week.
- With games against the 76ers and Kings kicking off the week, the Magic have a very favorable schedule among their three games. It's tough to trust guys like Serge Ibaka and Elfrid Payton, but they deserve to stay in your starting lineup.
- The Hawks get the Kings, Lakers and Rockets this week, so expect plenty of fireworks. Paul Millsap is locked into your starting lineup no matter who is on the schedule, but you will want to make sure Kent Bazemore, Dwight Howard, Dennis Schroder, and Kyle Korver are active as well.
- The Raptors also have a nice schedule this week, with no back-to-backs, and games against the Nuggets and Kings to run up the pace. DeMarre Carroll is the only interesting fringe player, and he is a fine option, especially in Roto leagues.
