Malkin earned Pittsburgh's second fighting major of the season and scored the team's lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss Friday.

Frustrated by a pair of slashing penalties called against him and compounded by Brandon Dubinsky's cross-check to Sidney Crosby's neck, Malkin squared off against defender Jack Johnson in a quasi-fight with the two separated by an official the entire time. His nine penalty minutes were a season high while the power-play goal was his fifth on the man advantage and ninth overall. He now has five goals on 12 shots in his last five contests.
