Rickie Fowler is one of four U.S. golfers participating in the Olympics this year, but he was the only one in attendance at the Opening Ceremonies in Rio on Friday night. Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed were all still in the United States playing in the Travelers Championship.

Fowler wanted to drink in all the grandeur of the event, and he did so with one of the more startling golf haircuts we've seen since Tiger Woods bleached his hair in the early 2000s.

For some reason Fowler shaved his locks all the way to the top and left a little bit hanging over the sides. It was a questionable grooming decision at best. Still, it was pretty cool to see Fowler as well as the other golfers competing in the event in Rio for the ceremony.

"The Olympics has always been something I've enjoyed watching," said Fowler. "What it stands for and seeing how much it means to these other athletes here. It just seems like a pretty amazing event, and I didn't want to miss out on it. It's been awesome. I've been getting checked in ... getting to meet some of the other athletes, it's pretty cool so far. There's 10 days ahead."
