After a dominant performance in morning session foursomes in which the United States swept Europe 4-0, the Americans saw their lead cut to 5-3 following a tremendous showing from the Europeans in the afternoon four-ball matches.

The U.S. holds a two-point advantage after Friday, but both teams will feel very much alive and confident going into Saturday's team play.

For the United States, it was a perfect start. The Americans also fought valiantly late on Friday afternoon to push some matches a to the 16th hole that otherwise would have ended on 14. For Europe, after a whitewashing in the morning, a stride was found in the afternoon. Its captains also might have found some more successful pairings to lean on for Saturday as Europe attempts to bridge the remaining gap and stay in the competition.

We'll be back bright and early on Saturday morning with more live blog action all day, starting with more foursomes action at 8:35 a.m. ET. Full results from Friday's action are listed below.
