Vladimir Guerrero surrenders to police, denies wrongdoing
Former MLB slugger Vladimir Guerrero has turned himself in to authorities after the National Police in Santo Domingo issued an APB for his arrest. Guerrero was sought after allegedly committed "aggression" against a police officer and also for "unleashing a brawl in a discotheque." Guerrero has turned himself in "so the case can be put in the hands of the justice system." (Associated Press)
Here is a photo of the man Guerrero is alleged to have attacked.
''At no time did I attack anyone, nor was I fleeing,'' Guerrero told the AP. ''I presented myself at the jail last night after the complaint from the disco, and this morning first thing I went to the police that are handling the case.''
His lawyer also weighed in: ''All that is being alleged is false. Vladimir did not attack anyone -- absolutely no one. We're going to follow the process, but everything will be cleared up.''
Guerrero, 37, is still a free agent. He served as the primary designated hitter last season for the Orioles, hitting .290/.317/.416 with 13 homers and 30 doubles. He has not yet retired, despite remaining unsigned throughout the entire spring and is still jobless with the 2012 season underway. Guerrero even changed agents last week, according to MLBTradeRumors.com.
