Cubs-Indians World Series: Ben Zobrist named MVP after heroic Game 7
Zobrist put the Cubs ahead in the 10th and will get a new car for his efforts
Early Thursday morning, the Chicago Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. Afterward, left fielder Ben Zobrist was named the series MVP.
Zobrist had a fantastic series, batting .357 and leading the Cubs with 10 hits. He also played a noteworthy part in the Game 7 victory, driving in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning on this double:

Zobrist is the first Cub to ever win the World Series MVP award. In fact, Zobrist was the first Cub ever considered for the award. That's because it didn't become a thing until 1955 ... or roughly a decade after the Cubs' most recent World Series berth prior to this October.
For Zobrist, the award comes in his third trip to the World Series, as he'd previously played with the 2008 Tampa Bay Rays and 2015 Kansas City Royals. Its Zobrist's second World Series win in a row, obviously. He's signed with the Cubs for an additional three seasons, so something tells us this might not be his last chance at World Series-related hardware.
