The last National League series of the year is here, as the Los Angeles Dodgers will take on the Chicago Cubs for the right to advance to the World Series. The Cubs have had a longer break, having defeated the San Francisco Giants in four games via a dramatic comeback. The Dodgers, meanwhile, just had an emotional game of their own -- Thursday night's thriller against the Washington Nationals. Let's tackle how to watch Game 1.
The key details.

And now the probable pitchers.

The Cubs signed Lester for these kinds of big starts. Good thing, too, because he should be capable of shutting down the Dodgers.
Lester is mostly a three-pitch pitcher: fastball, cutter, curve. Yet his ability to change eye levels and lanes makes it tougher for batters to get a beat on him than you might suspect. He doesn't have an out pitch, per se, because he's willing to use any of the above early and late in counts. It's a nice arrangement if you can manage it.
Lester faced the Dodgers twice during the regular season. He threw 15 innings and allowed one run, all the while striking out 16 batters and walking two. Given the Dodgers' struggles with left-handed pitching, it wouldn't be too surprising if he adds to those numbers.

Signed to an incentives-laden contract following a shaky physical, Maeda proved to be the Dodgers' most durable starter. He made 32 starts, posting above-average numbers behind a diverse arsenal.
Maeda throws nearly as many as sliders as low-90s fastballs, and also mixes in a slow curveball and changeup. Look for the curve early -- perhaps as early as the first pitch to begin an at-bat -- and the slider late -- to end them.
Worth noting: Maeda did not face the Cubs during the regular season, his first in the United States.
