The Seattle Mariners have acquired veteran catcher Carlos Ruiz from the Los Angeles Dodgers, Jon Heyman reports.

Ruiz will be 38 next season and just experienced his first few months away from the Phillies. After 11 years and 3,884 plate appearances with the Phillies, the man we affectionately call "Chooch" was dealt to the Dodgers in late August. Now he's on the move again.

Ruiz hit .264/.365/.348 with eight doubles and three homers in 233 plate appearances during the regular season.

It's probably far too early in the offseason to get a grasp on what Ruiz's role will be with the Mariners, given how general manager Jerry Dipoto made a ton of moves last offseason. For now, it would likely be that Ruiz would be the primary backup to Mike Zunino.

There's a $4.5 million club option on Ruiz's contract for 2017.

As for the Dodgers' side, Yasmani Grandal is the starter and Austin Barnes can serve as the backup, as things stand.

Again, though, everything is subject to change. It's Hot Stove time!
