As night descends on Day 2 of the Winter Meetings, let's take a look at the relief pitching market. This will be a snapshot, because things are obviously fluid throughout the offseason and especially this particular week. We saw Mark Melancon sign with the Giants on Monday in record reliever deal that will soon fall. Here's where things stand in the rumor mill elsewhere:

Aroldis Chapman

We've heard for a few days that the Marlins are strongly in on Chapman and that remains the case (Joe Frisaro).

Obviously, the Yankees have long been considered the leader in the clubhouse for Chapman's services and Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees "remain focused" on bringing him back.

Also, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports notes that the Nationals could be in the mix here as well.

See below for a Dodgers report that will factor in here.

Kenley Jansen

The Marlins have discussed a five-year, $80 million deal with Jansen, per the New York Post. Several outlets report that the Marlins favor Jansen to Chapman, though we've seen conflicting reports that state they want Chapman. And, really, it's Jeffrey Loria's Marlins, so anything is possible.

As for the Yankees, don't count them out, either. Bryan Hoch of yankees.com reports that they have made offers to both Chapman and Jansen. The hunch is there's obviously some sort of caveat so they aren't stuck paying something like $190 million total to both combined.

Not surprisingly, the Dodgers are heavily involved here in the rumor mill. In fact, they are apparently active in several conversations:

Wade Davis

So the Dodgers are discussing Davis, just as we know the Cubs have been heavily involved.

The Mets? Really? Yes, there's a report that the Mets discussed a possible trade for Davis with the Royals, though that doesn't seem to have legs.

Rosenthal also throws the Nationals in and mentions there could be a combo deal with Davis and Lorenzo Cain (or Danny Duffy and Cain) now that Washington missed out on Chris Sale. Speaking of which ...

Others

In that same Rosenthal tweet, he reports that the Nats could go back to the well with the White Sox and possibly land a Jose Quintana/David Robertson deal, which would be amazing. To piggyback on this, Jon Heyman reports that "nobody is sacred" on the White Sox at this point and specifically reports the availability of Quintana and Robertson (in addition to Todd Frazier).

As noted, the Marlins are definitely in the mix for one of the big boys, but if they fail to land either, they might zero in on free agents Brad Ziegler and Koji Uehara (Joe Frisaro). The Blue Jays have also taken a look at Ziegler (Ben Nicholson-Smith).

The Giants have discussed lefty J.P. Howell on a possible one-year deal (Buster Olney).

Remember there was a rumor on Monday that the Mets might match up with the Orioles on a deal that would send an outfielder like Curtis Granderson or Jay Bruce in exchange for reliever Brad Brach. Here's an update on that:

In the press conference to announce the Sale trade, Red Sox president Dave Dombrowski said the Red Sox are out on Uehara now.
