The All-Star Game once again has a Royal feel as Eric Hosmer wins MVP
Royals drove home all four AL runs while Eric Hosmer took MVP honors
SAN DIEGO -- Though Mike Trout won the MVP in the 2015 All-Star Game, it was still all about the Royals. They would use the home-field advantage they gained to win the 2015 World Series, as we all know.
The 2016 All-Star Game? Well, it ended up being all about the Royals again.

The NL jumped out to an early lead thanks to a Kris Bryant homer (so it was OK that he started after all, eh?). It didn't last long, because in the second inning, Eric Hosmer homered. Then Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer. Let's take a look:
Yeah, that feels familiar.
Next time through the order, Hosmer would single in the fourth and final AL run. So consider this the final score for the Midsummer Classic:
Royals 4, National League 2
Not surprisingly, Hosmer took home the MVP honors, breaking Trout's streak at two. He's only the second Royals player ever to win the All-Star Game MVP, after this dude named Bo Jackson took the game by force in 1989.
On top of that, the AL manager was Royals skipper Ned Yost, who employed five relief pitchers -- excluding starting pitchers who were used in relief -- that didn't allow a run and locked down the victory. Included in that group? Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera, who worked a spotless inning and struck out one.
In all, it was yet another reminder to not forget about these Royals. They seem to have a knack for showing up in big spots.
