Cubs ace Jake Arrieta is pretty well established on the mound by now, but he can actually put a string on the baseball from the batter's box as well. He had a double, triple and two homers last season.

On Sunday, in an eight-pitch at-bat against Shelby Miller of the Diamondbacks, Arrieta flashed his power in a major way:

The measurement? Oh, only 440 feet. Man, that was crushed.

On the hill, Arrieta actually didn't have near his best outing. Of course, allowing only three runs in seven innings would be more than acceptable for the overwhelming majority of the league. He also struck out six without offering any walks. It's a quality start. It was "fine." That's not up to the bar Arrieta has set for himself -- especially in allowing two homers -- but it was more than good enough as the Cubs won the game, 7-3, and now head home after a 5-1 road trip.

Yes, the Cubs lost Kyle Schwarber, but they have the depth to absorb that loss. Thus far in 2016, they've shown as much.
