WATCH: Kris Bryant bounces first career All-Star home run off scoreboard
The hunch is we might see a few more of these from the young Cubs star
SAN DIEGO -- Kris Bryant of the Cubs is only 24 and in his second season, but he's having an MVP-caliber 2016 campaign. He brought a .286/.384/.578 line into the All-Star break with 21 doubles, 25 homers, 65 RBI and 73 runs. He leads the NL in runs and home runs.
As such, on the latter point, it seemed a bit fitting that this happened in the first inning of the All-Star Game:
That was Bryant's first career homer in the All-Star Game (he's only been to two so far), but it's a decent bet it won't be his last.
Bryant also became the youngest Cubs player to homer in the Midsummer Classic since 1936 when the imortal Augie Galan pulled it off.
Another fun fact on top of that? Bryant hit the homer off White Sox starter Chris Sale, who had struck Bryant out in each of the six previous times the two faced each other.
The NL would go on to lose the game, but Bryant's homer was one of the few bright moments for the Senior Circuit.
