White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod didn't have the sharpest outing Tuesday in Minnesota.

Axelrod scattered 10 hits over six innings and 114 pitches as he gave up five runs -- four earned. He walked two and struck out five. Chicago lost 7-5, but Axelrod took a no-decision.

The 27-year-old hasn't won since May 26 against Miami. His record remains 3-4 with a 4.39 ERA, but he's given up 10 earned runs over his last two outings spanning 10 innings with four homers allowed. Axelrod will look to turn it around when he next starts Sunday at Kansas City.

White Sox starting pitcher Dylan Axelrod will be skipped in the rotation, after rain washed out the team's game Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Axelrod was originally scheduled to start Sunday against the Astros, but is not listed among the team's probable pitchers through Monday, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. 

Axelrod struggled through his last outing, allowing six earned runs in four innings of work against the Blue Jays Monday. 

White Sox starter Dylan Axelrod struggled Monday night against Toronto in a game that was delayed more than an hour-long due to fog.

Axelrod allowed six earned runs on eight hits and four walks over four innings, but got a no-decision because Jays' starter R.A. Dickey gave up seven runs.

Axelrod, who has a 4.26 ERA, struck out one over 91 pitches. He was coming off 5 1/3 scoreless innings at Seattle in another no-decision. Axelrod (3-4) hasn't won since May 26. He next starts Sunday at Houston.

White Sox pitcher Dylan Axelrod quietly grabbed the fifth spot in the team's rotation out of spring training and has been solid since -- 3-4 with a 3.73 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over his first 12 starts. 

Although this strong start has come as a bit of a surprise, it really shouldn't have. Axelrod wasn't considered a top prospect, but he had great minor-league numbers. Over six seasons, Axelrod had a 2.81 ERA and 1.14 WHIP. He didn't strike out a ton of batters, but he managed a nice 8.1 K/9 over his career. Although his 5.1 K/9 this season looks shockingly low, it could just be a result of the organization trying to preserve his innings -- teammate Jose Quintana had 10.0 K/9 in the minors, but saw it drop to 5.3 last year (while finishing with a 3.76 ERA). 

Axelrod, 27, has six quality starts this season and is 3-1 with a 3.10 ERA in his last five. Although he may hit a wall later in the season, he makes for a nice add now in deeper Fantasy leagues, as he continues to keep his ratios low.

Axelrod surrendered six hits and did not give up a run over 5 1/3 shutout innings. Hector Santiago came on to clean up his mess in the sixth inning. Axelrod struck out four batters over 93 pitches, throwing 47 strikes. His ERA is at 3.73.

Axelrod has gone 3-1 in his last five starts without allowing more than three earned runs in any of those outings through a span of 29 innings with 18 strikeouts. With his record at 3-4 on the season, Axelrod will look to move to .500 when he next starts Monday against Toronto.
