Orioles P Bud Norris has another poor outing in blowout loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Bud Norris had yet another disappointing outing in Monday night's 8-1 loss to the Rangers.

Norris surrendered five earned runs in six innings of work while walking one batter and striking out four. Norris gave up a four home runs in the game. He hasn't given up more than one in any game this season.

Norris, who fell to 2-7 this year, is hopeful he can turn things around after the All-Star break.

"I'm not a first-half guy, I hope I'm a second-half guy," Norris said, via MLB.com. "I know what I did for this team last year in the second half and I just want to get back to that guy.

"A couple pitches here and there, if I find my slider, I feel like I'm a lot more in-tune with the game. I wasn't that far off. There was some positives to this, but I got to look at these negatives too and understand you have to keep the ball in the ballpark."

Norris now has a paltry ERA of 6.79 this season.

Orioles P Bud Norris gives up 5 runs, zero earned in loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Bud Norris pitched a fine game but ran into a disastrous situation in the sixth inning of Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Red Sox.

Norris pitched five scoreless innings and then allowed five runs in the sixth. However, he wasn't credited with any of them and ended the day with zero earned runs. A fielding error and passed ball contributed to the poor inning for Baltimore, and thus Norris wasn't on the hook for the runs.

Norris exited after 5 2/3 innings. He allowed seven hits, walked one and tossed three strikeouts. Though Norris allowed five runs, this was the first time he exited a game without having any earned to his name.

Norris falls to 2-6 with a 6.70 ERA this year.

Orioles P Bud Norris gives up two runs in loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Bud Norris gave up two runs in Thursday afternoon's 2-1 loss to the Phillies.

For Norris, it was one of his better games of the season considering how poor his previous outings have been. Norris didn't allow a run until the sixth inning, when Ryan Howard belted a two-run shot that ultimately gave the Phillies the win.

Norris surrendered five hits, gave up two walks and struck out two batters. Norris now has a 7.57 ERA this season.

His next start is projected for June 24 against the Red Sox.

Orioles SP Bud Norris escapes with no-decision on Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Orioles starter Bud Norris settled for a no-decision in Saturday's outing against the Yankees. Norris went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. He struck out five and did not issue a walk. His ERA still sits at a rather unsightly 8.29 mark.

Norris put himself down early when he allowed two runs in the first inning. Then, after the Orioles had taken a 4-2 lead, Norris served up a two-run home run to Alex Rodriguez in the sixth inning to tie the game.

Fortunately for the right-hander, his offense was able to stage a late-inning rally as they claimed the 9-4 victory.

Norris will look to get back in the win column in his next start, scheduled for Thursday in Philadelphia.

Orioles' Bud Norris strikes out seven in return Sunday
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Orioles pitcher Bud Norris earned the win in his return from the disabled list on Sunday, giving up one earned run on four hits and two walks in five innings while striking out seven in his team's 7-3 victory over the Indians.

Fresh from recovering from a severe case of bronchitis, Norris (2-4) turned in his best start of the season, matching his season high for strikeouts while holding the opposition under three runs for the first time this year. His only damage came on an RBI double with no outs in the fourth, but he was able to strike out two batters with men on first and second base before getting out of the inning with a groundout.

Norris owns an 8.63 ERA and 25:15 K:BB ratio in 32 1/3 innings. He's on track to face the Yankees on Saturday.
