Blue Jays P R.A. Dickey goes full 9 innings in win
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey pitched a complete game in Thursday night's 8-4 win over the Angels.

Dickey allowed four earned runs but struck out seven batters. He did walk two batters and allowed two home runs. Dickey now has an ERA of 5.49 for the season. Dickey had previously given up 13 earned runs in his last two games.

Dickey was pleased with his performance and said pitching coach Pete Walker caught something on film that helped improve his outing on Thursday.

"I can't say enough about him, if he were not around I would not have caught it on my own," Dickey said, via MLB.com

Dickey's next start is projected for May 26 against the White Sox.

Blue Jays shuffle rotation, name Todd Redmond Monday starter
by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

The Blue Jays will start pitcher Todd Redmond in Monday's game against the Angels, Sportsnet reports.

Redmond struggled in two relief appearances in mid-April, giving up eight earned runs in 4 1/3 innings while striking out four and walking five. He's made one start and three relief appearances with Triple-A Buffalo, posting a 4.50 ERA and 13:2 K:BB ratio in 14 innings.

With the change, the team is bumping back the rest of the rotation a day, with Monday's originally-scheduled starter, Aaron Sanchez, moving to Tuesday. Drew Hutchison and R.A. Dickey will pitch Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Blue Jays starting pitcher R.A. Dickey banged around for loss on Friday
by Ted Leshinski | Staff Writer

Blue Jays starting pitcher R.A. Dickey (1-4) was banged around for seven runs on 10 hits in five innings of work Friday to suffer the loss against the Astros.

Dickey was touched for a solo homer from George Springer and a three-run shot from Jose Altuve.

In his last two starts, Dickey has allowed 13 runs in 11 innings (10.64 ERA).

Dickey dropped his first three decisions before winning his last start.

Dickey will return to the mound for his next start Wednesday against the Angels.

Gibbons on Blue Jays' ace: 'He's been throwing the ball good'
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Blue Jays starter R.A. Dickey has not had great results so far in 2015. Dickey, who is scheduled to start Friday against the Astros, has 1-4 record with an even 5.00 ERA over his first seven starts. The former Cy Young award winner has an alarming 20:19 K:BB ratio as well, though that can be expected from the knuckleballer.

But manager John Gibbons isn't too concerned about his ace, as he told MLB Network Radio on Friday.

"He's been throwing the ball good all year, he's got zero run support, every time he's given us a chance to win".

Dickey has 11 career appearances (nine starts) against the Astros. He owns a 2-4 record with a 4.52 ERA lifetime.

Blue Jays P R.A. Dickey fails to record a strikeout in loss
by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com

Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey gave up six earned runs in seven innings of work during Sunday afternoon's 6-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Dickey allowed four runs in the first inning and two in the fifth. He walked three batters and didn't record one strikeout. This is his second consecutive start without a strikeout, though his last start resulted in his first and only win this season.

"This pitch in a 162-game season, 34 starts every year, you have little mini seasons within the season," said Dickey, who dropped to 1-4 with a 5.00 ERA. "This last [four]-game stretch has been a very odd one for me. Striking out four guys in [four] outings is very bizarre for me.

"There are certainly some things I need to take away from that and try to get better from, or figure out why I'm not getting the swings and misses I normally get. Eight innings, three hits in the middle of that, a couple of mediocre outings and this one was kind of a poor outing. It's all about making adjustments ... you have to really keep your head up and keep searching for answers and grinding it out."

Sunday's game drops Dickey to 1-4 for the year. He now holds a 5.00 ERA.

Dickey's next start is projected for Friday against the Astros.
