White Sox closer Addison Reed entered Friday's contest against the Angels in the ninth inning with a three-run advantage.

Reed needed just 11 pitches to retire the side in order to pick up his 14th save of the season. Reed has converted 14 of 15 save opportunities and improved his ERA to 2.37 after Friday's 3-0 victory.

White Sox closer Addison Reed closed out his third game in a row Thursday, in a 5-4 win over the Angels.

Reed needed just 10 pitches to pitch a perfect ninth inning, as he picked up two groundball outs and one fly ball out.

He now has 13 saves in 14 opportunities, with a 2.50 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 18 innings of work.

The right-hander worked his way around a base hit as he struck out one and made it out of the inning unscathed to secure a 4-2 win. Reed, who picked up his 12th save of the season, has struck out six and has not permitted a run in his last three innings.

White Sox closer Addison Reed did not have a very good ninth inning on Wednesday in New York against the Mets. Reed allowed a run on three hits over 27 pitches in the ninth in the 6-3 win over the Mets. 

Reed entered the game with a 6-2 lead in a non-save situation. He ended up striking out the side as his ERA is now at 2.81. Reed, who has gone 11 for 12 in save situations, has given up three earned runs over his last three appearances. 

White Sox manager Robin Ventura hopes to use closer Addison Reed for the third consecutive day against the Mets Tuesday. Reed pitched three straight days just twice during his rookie campaign in 2012.

"The way we've been playing he hasn't had that many in a row,'' Ventura said, per The Chicago Sun-Times. "We hope he has that ability. We want him to have that ability. I think he does. I hope we get to try it out.''

Reed has credited his workout regimen, which has made him better equipped to handle consecutive outings.

"Last year was my first full season and I didn't know what I need to do to get my arm ready and keep it fresh," Reed said. "This year I'm doing more cardio. If I pitch two days in a row, I up cardio after the game or before the next game. Three days, I up it even more. That has helped me tremendously.''

Reed has converted 11 of his 12 save chances and has a 2.40 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP through his first 15 innings of work. He had just five saves and a 4.70 ERA through his first 15 1/3 innings last season.
