Yankees OF Carlos Beltran pushes hitting streak to 13
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

A solo home run in a 15-4 defeat is nothing to turn cartwheels over, but it might have been Saturday for Yankees veteran outfielder Carlos Beltran. It extended his hitting streak to 13 games.

Beltran blasted off in the sixth inning to end the shutout. He has just 16 hits in those 13 games, but has still lifted his average from .187 to .234.

Brett Gardner, Carlos Beltran batting 1-2 Wednesday for Yankees
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The loss of Jacoby Ellsbury to a knee injury has the Yankees scrambling the top of their lineup for the Wednesday night game in Washington.

Brett Gardner is set to lead off for just the fourth time this season with Carlos Beltran batting in the second spot for only the second time in 2015.

Perhaps the move will jump-start Gardner, who followed a seven-game hitting streak with a 3-for-20 slide that has lowered his batting average under .300 for the first time since April 25.

Yankees give Carlos Beltran a breather on Thursday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Carlos Beltran is out of the starting lineup for the Yankees in Thursday's series-finale with the Rays. Chris Young will get the start in right field and bat sixth for manager Joe Girardi.

Beltran had started 10 straight games for the Yankees, and all but one he started in right field. Over that stretch, Beltran hit .270 (10 for 37) with a pair of home runs and six RBI.

He'll give way to Young who has been slumping lately, hitting just .250 with a double, zero home runs and zero RBI over his last eight games.

Yankees' Carlos Beltran hits second home run in as many games

Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann go deep for Yankees
by Shawn Krest | CBSSports.com

Carlos Beltran and Brian McCann both hit solo home runs in the Yankees win over Baltimore on Sunday.

Beltran went 2 for 2 and hit his first home run of the season. He now has 13 RBI and is hitting .210. He also walked twice.

"I think the most important thing for me is being able to have consistent at-bats," Beltran said.

"He's swung a lot better in the last 10 days, since we had that off-day before Boston," manager Joe Girardi said. "You just keep riding him out there because you know it’s going to change. It's no fun when you're going through it, but he’s too good of a hitter for it to last."

McCann went 1 for 3, walked once and scored twice. He's hitting .242, with four home runs and 18 RBI.
