Giants SP Chris Heston gives up six runs, gets win on Saturday
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Giants pitcher Chris Heston struggled in his start on Saturday against the Rockies. The rookie right-hander was tagged for six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked two and struck out two. His offense bailed him out, however, as he was able to record his fourth win of the season.

Heston (4-3) served up a solo home run to Ben Paulsen in the bottom of the second. But most of the damage came in the fifth and sixth innings. Heston surrendered a solo home run to Nick Hundley and a two-run blast to Charlie Blackmon, each coming in the fith.

This makes back-to-back poor outings for Heston, who now sports a 4.33 ERA. He has been solid for most of the season, posting quality starts in five of his nine starts so far. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, scheduled for Thursday against the Braves.

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com

Giants pitcher Chris Heston wasn't a factor in the decision Sunday, allowing five earned runs on seven hits and two walks in two-plus innings while striking out two in his team's 9-8 win over the Reds.

Heston gave up one run in the first two innings before the wheels came off in the third. He allowed six straight batters to reach base before coming out of the game, though the Giants were able to maintain their lead after scoring six runs of their own in the first three innings.

Heston owns a 3.72 ERA and 41:12 K:BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings. He's scheduled to face the Rockies in Colorado Saturday.

Giants SP Chris Heston Ks 10, goes the distance vs. Astros
by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Giants starter Chris Heston struck out 10, went the distance and retired the last 22 batters he faced in a dominant 8-1 victory over the Astros.

Heston allowed a solo home run to Jason Castro for his only damage of the evening. He permitted one earned run on two hits and no walks in nine innings of work. He twirled a gem with 70 strikes in 107 pitches to improve to 3-3 with a 2.91 ERA this season.

"I just pound the bottom of the strike zone," Heston said, per MLB.com. "Everything below the knees, really. Anything above the knees is probably up."

Heston has allowed one earned run in four of his last six starts. He will look to keep rolling Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.
