Brewers reliever Chris Narveson threw a bullpen session Tuesday, as he continues to make progress in his recovery from a middle-finger sprain. If Narveson makes it through the next few days without a setback, he could face live hitters Friday in batting practice, according to MLB.com.

"The finger felt good. Just kind of taking it day by day and see how it goes Friday against hitters," Narveson said. "You're just trying to prepare yourself and get your body ready to pitch again. I think you expect yourself to hit the ground running once you come back."

Narveson has been on the disabled list April 8 with the injury, but is clearly making progress. If all goes well with his batting practice session Friday, he could begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Nashville shortly after. 

Brewers pitcher Chris Narveson, on the 15-day disabled list, completed a 40-pitch bullpen session Saturday as he continues to work his way back from a sprained middle finger.

"I really haven't thought about it that much, other than trying to figure out our starters and where we're going with them," manager Ron Roenicke said. "Hopefully, we continue to get better in that area. If we don't we need to make some changes to our starting rotation. … I'm kind of 'one step at a time' with [Narveson]. When he's ready to go, then we'll see where we are with the rotation."

Narveson will throw another bullpen session during the upcoming homestand, which starts Monday against the Dodgers. Barring any setbacks, he will throw a simulated game before starting his rehab assignment.

"He did that three days ago," manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday. "I think we will have a few of those with him, and then get him some live hitters."

The left-hander has been sidelined since early April due to an injured middle finger.
