Hitters to start in Week 22
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

Looking for a sleeper hitter for Fantasy Week 22 (Aug. 25-31)? You may just find him in the latest Start and Sit Hitters. Stephen Vogt, Justin Morneau, Jedd Gyorko, Martin Prado, J.J Hardy and Michael Morse are all labeled "starts" for the upcoming scoring period, with several other sleeper suggestions sprinkled throughout.

Be sure to give it a look before setting your lineup.

Michael Morse has 'gotten his timing back'
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

After being in an offensive lull for several weeks, Giants outfielder/first baseman Michael Morse finally seems to be turning the corner offensively. He is batting .500 (14 for 28) with one triple, one home run, two doubles, five runs and seven RBI in his last nine games.

"I think he's just gotten his timing back," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said, per the San Jose Mercury News. "His confidence, his swagger, all those things."

In fact, Morse heads into Tuesday's game against the Cubs having reached base in nine straight plate appearances, becoming the first San Francisco player to do that since Bengie Molina in 2010.

"Like everybody, you get in a funk and you might start pressing or thinking too much," Bochy said. "He looks free and easy up there and swinging the bat the way he can. Hopefully this continues cause he has really done a great job of lifting this club and getting some big hits for us."

Michael Morse hits first August homer
by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com

Giants outfielder Michael Morse homered for the first time this month Friday, in a 5-3 loss to the Phillies.

Morse provided all of the Giants' offense in the game, with his three-run homer in the fourth inning. He finished the game 1 for 2 with a walk before being replaced for a pinch-runner late.

Morse has 16 home runs on the season, but just three have come since the start of July. He is hitting .276/.330/.469 overall in 392 at-bats.

Michael Morse plummets in the rankings
by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer

On June 5, the day he hit his 13th home run, Michael Morse was batting .286 with a .916 OPS, convincing Fantasy owners he was back to being the MVP-caliber player he was in parts of three seasons with the Nationals and not whatever we saw last year.

But on Tuesday, I decided enough was enough, dropping him to 28th among first basemen and 63rd among outfielders in my rest-of-season rankings.

Hey, in 54 games since, he's hit only two home runs, batting .261 with a .658 OPS to make him the 47th-best first baseman in Head-to-Head leagues and the 56th-best in Rotisserie. I don't even want to see where he ranks among outfielders during that stretch.

The problem for Morse is that, because of his poor plate discipline, when he's not hitting for average or power, he's positively useless. Right now, he's hitting for neither. And while he was really good for the Nationals in 2011, he showed last year that when he's not 100 percent, he's a liability at the plate.

Morse has never been a model of health in his career and, at age 32, it'll only get worse. He may have returned from a toe injury Tuesday, but that doesn't mean you should trust him in mixed leagues.
