Pirates add 1B/OF Michael Morse to roster; OF Jaff Decker optioned
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

The Pirates have added first baseman/outfielder Michael Morse to the active roster on Monday. Morse was acquired from the Dodgers in exchange for outfielder Jose Tabata just before Friday's trade deadline.

Morse was slashing a disappointing .213/.276/.313 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 53 games with the Marlins, before being dealt to Los Angeles in a three-team deal last week.

To clear room on the 25-man roster, outfielder Jaff Decker was optioned to Triple-A Indianpolis, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune

Morse was acquired by the Dodgers from the Marlins in a three-team deal on Thursday and was subsequentley desginated for assignment.

After trade, Dodgers designate Michael Morse for assignment
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

Michael Morse's tenure with the Dodgers lasted all of about three hours. Morse was designated for assignment by the Dodgers, who just acquired him from the Marlins earlier on Thursday.

Morse has been struggling all season, batting just .214 with four home runs and 12 RBI in 52 games with Miami.

This move, along with a handful of others, was done to clear room on the roster for the rest of the players the Dodgers acquired Thursday afternoon.

Dodgers snag strong starters in deal with Marlins, Braves
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

The Dodgers have snagged several veterans in a just-completed three-way trade filled with prospects, per Yahoo Sports.

They receive starting pitchers Alex Wood and Bronson Arroyo and relievers Luis Avilan and Jim Johnson, as well as minor league utility infielder Jose Peraza from the Braves. They also get first baseman Michael Morse and starting pitcher Mat Latos from the Marlins.

The Dodgers sent several prospects to both teams. First baseman Hector Olivera, lefty Paco Rodriguez and starting pitcher Zachary Bird head to Atlanta while pitchers Victor Araujo and Angel Guzman go to Miami.

The keys are Wood and Latos, who will likely immediately join the Los Angeles rotation, as well as Johnson, who has been used as the Atlanta closer.

The 24-year-old Wood hasn't performed as well this season as he did in 2014, but he is 7-6 with a 3.54 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings.

Latos is 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA, but has come on strong. He has allowed just six earned runs in his last 26 innings pitched.

Johnson has nine saves, but will almost certainly be used behind Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen.

Report: Dodgers, Marlins, Braves working on three-team deal
by Jason Lempert | Staff Writer

The Braves, Dodgers and Marlins are in the working stages of a three-team, nine-player deal. According to reports, the Braves are expected to send top prospect Jose Peraza , left-hander Alex Wood and relievers Jim Johnson and Luis Avilan to the Dodgers.

In return, the Braves would receive prospect Hector Olivera , lefty reliever Paco Rodriguez and minor-league pitcher Zach Bird from the Dodgers, and a 2016 draft pick from the Marlins.

The Marlins are also sending right-hander Mat Latos and first baseman Michael Morse to the Dodgers in exchange for three minor-league pitchers--right-handers Jeff Brigham, Victor Araujo and Kevin Guzman.

None of the three teams have officially announced the deal as of yet.
