Troy Tulowitzki fine with missing some games
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, who has started 35 of 43 games, is fine with not playing every day in an attempt to make sure he doesn't suffer a setback with his surgically repaired groin, according to The Denver Post.

"I am right there with them," Tulowitzki said. " I'd love to be out there every day, but at the same time I am not capable of it right now. Some of those days off make me better in the long run rather than continually wearing myself down. If I played (every day), I would be more (vulnerable) to injury. I am sure it's tough for people to understand. I totally get that. But it is what I have to do. The (training staff) has convinced me, and I have seen over the last couple of years that it's the way to handle it."

Tulowitzki had a big day Saturday against the Giants with a season-high four hits. He had a double, a run and two RBI. Tulowitzki is batting .392 (20 for 51) in 15 May games (13 starts), raising his season average from .308 to .341.

Troy Tulowitzki sends average soaring past .300
by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki managed three hits, including two doubles, during Tuesday's game against the Cubs. It was his fourth multi-hit game in May, but Tulowitzki entered play Tuesday mired in a 2-for-17 slump.

Despite the slide, Tulowitzki has managed to raise his batting average from .292 to .324 in his last 16 games thanks to a .370 average (17 for 46) in that span. Tulowitzki has two home runs, six doubles and 15 RBI in his last 16 games.

Troy Tulowitzki managing injury
by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com

The Rockies have been managing shortstop Troy Tulowitzki's left groin injury to the best of their ability, MLB.com reports. Colorado had kept Tulowitzki out of the lineup for three of the six games on their most recent homestand because of inflammation.

Although that decison can be unpopular, it appears to be helping Tulowitzki over the long haul. He's hitting .324 with eight homers and a team-leading 31 RBI.

"Every single day I've gotten better," Tulowitzki said. "It's kind of a marathon. As long as I'm there in September, that's the goal, not run myself into the ground. I've had a chance to catch up. I've felt better and better every single game. I'm excited about that. Instead of going out there being sore and being close to blowing out, I think we made the right decision."

The Rockies will continue to manage his injury, which means he'll sit out more regularly than he normally would. The shortstop is also learning to be more reserved in moments when the situation calls for it.

"We're always trying to work on different parts of the game, and that's it for me," he said. "I'm just trying to play within myself, not lunging too much. Maybe sometimes, when the game asks for 100 percent, I can only give it 80, but that's smart on my part, so I can be out there every single day."

Troy Tulowitzki cures offensive woes
by Bill Passonno | CBSSports.com

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki blasted a three-run homer in the third inning to end Colorado's scoreless streak at 28 innings during an 8-2 rout at St. Louis on Sunday. He finished 1 for 4 against the Cardinals with just his second hit over the past five games as his batting average has slipped to .324.

Tulowitzki's eighth homer of the season stopped the Rockies' scoreless streak two innings shy of the team record. They went 30 innings without a run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2010, according to STATS.
