24 Miguel Tejada, SS

Imagine a 12-team AL-only Roto league (which actually exists) where the top four free agents are Rick Ankiel, Wilkin Ramirez, Jose Iglesias and Shelley Duncan; only one of those players is currently in the majors. This is the world in which Miguel Tejada is now relevant.

With a nod at third on Tuesday for the Royals, Tejada has two starts in the last three days, with a case for more -- Mike Moustakas is struggling and Chris Getz is hitting just .216 with one home run (he also made a crucial error in Monday's game against the White Sox). Tejada, meanwhile, is hitting .313 in the very small sample size of 16 at-bats. At 39, nobody is expecting him to hit 20 home runs or even bat above .280. But in a deep AL-only league, Tejada's worth the speculation based on his situation alone -- he can play multiple positions and the players ahead of him at two of those positions are batting a combined .206. 

This is deep league speculation, where nothing may come of it after Moustakas catches fire and Getz proves too valuable defensively. But if things go south, Tejada seems to be playing his way into Ned Yost's good graces.
