Already without Al Horford for their next couple of games, the Boston Celtics might now also have to deal with the absence of Jae Crowder.

Crowder sprained his left ankle in the second quarter against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. The Celtics forward rolled his ankle after passing the ball and writhed on the court before hopping straight to Boston's locker room.

Shortly after he left the game, the Celtics announced Crowder had sprained his left ankle and would not return. After the game, Celtics coach Brad Stevens told he reporters that Crowder would likely miss a week but also wasn't predicting a speedy recovery.

Providing toughness on defense and helping to spread the floor with his shooting, Crowder is a key member of the Celtics. Now with Crowder likely to miss a significant amount of time, the Celtics will turn to rookie Jaylen Brown or Gerald Green. Both are capable players but Brown is a rookie and Green can be inconsistent. Plus, both players don't bring the versatility and defensive tenacity that Crowder does.

Boston could also play small with their three guards of Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley and Terry Rozier but the Celtics will be giving up a lot size-wise with that lineup. Marcus Smart could potentially fill in with for Crowder, yet his 3-point shooting is dismal and he himself is returning from an injury and might not be at full strength.

Depending on how long Crowder might be sidelined, this could be quite a blow for Boston.
